GT Pros: NBA Edition 2/3/14

As always, let's first start off with the most notable Yellow Jacket in the NBA, Chris Bosh. Over Bosh's last ten games, he's played some of his best basketball of the season, averaging 20 ppg, 7.4, rpg, and a .558 field goal percentage from the field. Bosh continues to shoot at an incredibly efficient clip compared to the rest of his career, and he has turned his successful season into another All Star appearance. While his numbers are still lower than his career averages, everyone across the league understands the job he's done for the Heat.

Thaddeus Young is starting to feel the effects of the downward spiral that is the Philadelphia 76ers. Young continues to score above his career norms, but his shooting percentage has noticeably dropped over the last couple weeks, which is mildly concerning. This isn't a great time for a shooting slump, as the team is 2-8 in their last ten games and is now third to last in the East.

Much like Young, Derrick Favors has struggled to find his shot recently, but has made up for it by dominating the glass. In Favors' last seven games, he's hauled in 11.4 rebounds per game, while still contributing 13.4 points per game. He's playing efficient basketball right now and doesn't seem to be slowing down, which is good news for the Utah Jazz.

While I'd like to continue talking about other pros in the NBA, there hasn't been a whole lot to talk about over the last couple of weeks. Jarrett Jack and Will Bynum have had subpar performances over the last couple of weeks and Shumpert still hasn't shown too much to get excited about. One thing I would like to see is Anthony Morrow in the 3 point contest. It's very unlikely to happen since there are tons of other bigger name players who might be interested, but All Star weekend is in New Orleans this year and it would be nice to see a member from the Pelicans get an opportunity. He's certainly played well this year when given the chance.

In other news, the Seahawks trounced the Broncos last night in New Jersey, but as many of you probably know, Demaryius still managed to shine in the game. He finished the game with 13 receptions for 118 yards and a touchdown. He had the lone touchdown of the game for the Broncos, which was an excellent catch while being pulled down by the defender. While it's not on his mind right now, pretty soon he'll be hoping Peyton returns for another season.

In extra bonus news, golf season is back and that means a few GT pros were in action over the weekend at the Waste Management Phoenix Open. Three yellow jackets made the cut, with Cameron Tringale leading the pack at 9- for the tournament, which was enough to earn a tie for 12th and a six figure paycheck. Roberto Castro and Bryce Molder each had successful tournaments as well, finishing 7- and 6- respectively. As the golf season begins to pick up, there will be a heavier emphasis in these articles.
