Tech goes into hafltime with a 9-3 lead.
Clemson got things started after winning the coin toss and electing to receive. They promptly went three-and-out, and gave the ball back to Tech.
On the ensuing drive, really the only positive play Tech had was a big 19-yard pass on third-and-long to Deandre Smetler. But only three plays later, Tony Zenon dropped what looked to be a poor pitch, giving the ball back to Clemson.
Clemson would drive the ball down the field, with a lot of QB draws and runs from Deshaun Watson. The drive ended with a 27-yard field goal from Ammon Lakip.
Tech would go three-and-out on the next drive and all momentum looked to be swinging in the direction of Clemson after getting the ball back at midfield for the second consecutive drive.
But then, something crazy happened. Deshaun Watson went down with an injury, forcing Cole Stoudt to come into play. After getting a couple decent pick-ups, he made a fatal error. He let Jamal Golden cut off a route, intercept the pass and return it all the way for a touchdown. A bobbled snap kept the game at 6-3.
It's been a very defensive game so far. Tech would only score one more time with a field goal towards the middle of the second quarter.
One thing that was amazing to see was Tech's reaction to Broderick Snoddy's leg injury. As soon as he was placed on the stretcher, the entire team rushed onto the field and huddled around him. This team shows a lot of heart. It's a great thing to see. It really emphasized the #TogetherWeSwarm that Tech has been promoting all season.
Here's to a great second half. Stay warm folks!
