Before we focus on a huge rivalry football game on Saturday, the basketball team will be opening up their season against UGA. By the way, it's a gold out!
The Jackets have won three in a row in the series after handling Georgia in Athens last year 80-71 in the third game of the season. This is the earliest meeting ever in the GT-UGA basketball rivalry. It's the first time the two schools have opened the season with each other since 1977. Tech will have the opportunity to win four in a row against UGA for the first time since 1962-1964 when they played each other twice in each season in the SEC. Georgia Tech leads the overall series 104-86.
It's a rare opportunity to open up the season with a game against a Power-5 conference school. Tech hasn't opened with a Power-5 conference school since Michigan in 1993. A win could give the Jackets some nice momentum going into their next two home games before traveling to Orlando, FL for the Orlando Classic in two weeks.
Let's go get a win!
