When you're coming off of a 7-7 season and replacing your starting Quarterback and Defensive Coordinator, people typically don't expect a whole ton from you. That said, based on their standing in USA Today's preseason Coaches' Poll I'd say that coaches nationally respect Georgia Tech and its program enough to know that there won't be much of a loss in functionality for this team even early in the year, and there may not be a dropoff whatsoever.
Georgia Tech checks in with this poll ranked behind 5 teams in the ACC -- (8) Clemson, (12) Florida State, with Miami, Virginia Tech, and North Carolina all receiving votes. Honestly, if it's me, I'm not putting Tech in this poll, just given what we know about them and everyone else. That said, they'll be playing games against 2 teams ranked in this poll (Clemson, uga) as well as 4 teams who received votes (Miami, Virginia Tech, BYU, and North Carolina), meaning they have the chance to really make a name for themselves if they're able to seize opportunities as they present themselves. I see Tech finishing the regular season in the 20-25 range, which to some fans sounds mediocre, but to me sounds like the first time they would be ranked in a postseason poll since 2009.
Would you put Georgia Tech in this poll? How do you see them finishing the year poll-wise?
