The ACC announced opponents (not schedule) for next year's basketball season. The exciting thing is there are new teams to play! Also, you can see how mad the ACC is at Maryland by checking out their home/away schedules. Now for the important thing to you, GT's home and away games:
Away | |
ND | |
Clemson | |
BC | |
Duke | |
FSU | |
Maryland | |
NCSU | |
Syracuse | |
Wake |
I think this looks pretty good and could be fun for our improving team. Our 'permanent' home and away opponents are Notre Dame and Clemson, so we not only get to see the Fighting Irish twice this year, but every year. Hopefully this can be a pretty fun basket-hoops rivalry going forward. We get Duke twice, host Pitt and UNC, and visit Syracuse in their first ACC season.
I think we have winnable road games, which means if we can mostly take care of business at home, a tournament bid is pretty attainable. It is also important to note the new "permanent" aspects of this schedule setup. Maryland will be replaced by Louisville, but the general setup will stay the same. 2 permanent home and away opponents, 2 rotating home and away teams and playing the remaining 10 teams once per year on a rotating/alternating home and away schedule.
What do you guys think? Will any of these games be more likely to get you into McCamish (assuming you live in Atlanta?) Can we keep the building from being different shades of blue for those 2 big home games? Also, if you want to see what a schedule looks like when your conference doesn't like you, check out Maryland's home games!
