Jackets season starts with Presbyterian

The moment we have all been waiting for has arrive... Well ok.. For me, the moment I have been waiting for. For those football fanatics, jump on the bball train, this season will be an exciting one.

USA TODAY Sports

The Jackets begin their 2013-14 tonight at 7:30pm at McCamish Pavilion against Presbyterian College. Tech return four of their five starters from last season and hope to get the ball rolling with some early November wins. Last season, Brian Gregory's young team went 10-2 in their out of conference schedule.

This could be a big game for Brian Gregory, who is currently sitting at 199 career wins as a head coach. Pretty cool historic moment for this young coach. His current Tech career record is 27-35.

As for the history between Tech and Presbyterian, the Jackets have faced them seven times and have an undefeated record against the Blue Hose. (such an interesting mascot. Here is Presbyterian College's explaination to what a "Blue Hose" is.)

Let's get to the game. Here is my Projected Starters.

Projected Starters:

PG- #23 Trae Golden
SG- #2 Solomon Poole
SF- #3 Marcus Georges-Hunt
PF- #4 Robert Carter Jr.
C- #5 Daniel Miller

What I want to see out of this team is not only a dominating win, but one where they stay focused for 40 minutes. The need to dominate the paint and we need contribution from everyone. I know that we will see walk-ons hit the court at some point and some key bench players will get some quality time as well. Get ready to see the different "packages" that Gregory has to offer from this very versatile team.

This game marks the first of the Jackets' 8 games in the month of November. Not only is this the earliest game in program history, but also the most full November they have ever seen. This month will be an early test for the young, under the radar team.

Unfortunately, Georgia Tech did not allow me to have a press pass this season. I will be unable to comment on this article during the game because I will be in the stands. However, follow me on Twitter @FTRSChas and tweet me with any questions you might have.
