Results for Week 3
SB Nation BlogPoll College Football Rankings 2011
A few thoughts after the jump.
-- OK Stanford, I see you and your lone 1st place vote, keeping Alabama from being a unanimous #1. Very nice. (I guess this came from someone whose policy states that you're #1 if you beat #1, and had USC at #1.)
-- Big jumps from Stanford, Notre Dame, and Northwestern. All with big wins this weekend bringing some legitimacy to their unbeaten records. Interesting to note is that Northwestern is now 3-for-3 against BCS Conference opponents.
-- I feel like a 13 spot drop is too much for a USC team that lost by a touchdown on the road to its ranked rival. I still think they're a damn good team.
-- Michigan State also takes a huge tumble this week after losing 20-3 at home to Notre Dame. Their offense is far too talented to perform at levels that they have been -- adjustments need to be made if that team is going to reach its potential.
-- Mississippi State enters the poll at 3-0, with wins over Jackson State, an Auburn team that needed OT to beat Louisiana-Monroe, and Troy (a 6-point win). Excuse my lack of convinced-ness here.
-- Clemson's just that awkward kid in the top 10 right now, standing there quietly watching as people move every which way around them.
-- We're still not in the top 25 (sucks, Paul Johnson was holding his breath hoping we would be). Guess we gotta wait and see where we are after the game this weekend.
Any thoughts in response to mine or the poll overall?
