The 23rd-ranked Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets were looking and hoping for a solid series against Florida State so that they could keep building up momentum as the season inches to an end. While played well at the beginning for two games, baseball lasts nine and the Seminoles outlasted the Yellow Jackets 2-1, 12-7, and 8-4. If the Jackets aren't on the ropes yet, they're dangerously close as they've fallen to 19-14 overall and 6-9 in conference.
In Games 1 and 2, Tech had the chance to capitalize but couldn't. Runners were left on base throughout the entire series and that timely hit could not be found. That's just the difference between consistent baseball (FSU) and inconsistent baseball (GT).
Georgia Tech will play Mercer on Tuesday night at Russ Chandler Stadium at 6pm. The Jackets still have a chance for a turnaround against traditional baseball powerhouses. ACC remaining series are @Wake Forest, @UNC, vs Clemson, @UVA, and vs. Miami - the hardest stretch for the most desperate time.
C'mon Jackets!
