Notre Dame Women's Basketball Media Day Interviews

I'm never one to miss out on an opportunity to put up a video with Ms. Diggins. ND loses 3 starters from last year's squad - Brittany Mallory, Natalie Novosel and Devereaux Peters - but with Player of the Year favorite Skylar Diggins back for her senior campaign, look for the Lady Irish to remain in the hunt for a return to the Final Four

Notre Dame to ACC: Short Term Win, Long Term Disaster?

On Wednesday, September 12, 2012 the University of Notre Dame officially became a member of the Atlantic Coast Conference. All of Notre Dame’s athletic programs, except for football, will fully compete in the ACC. Starting in 2013, all other ACC football programs will play 9 conference games each year, while Notre Dame’s football program will compete in only 5. This special arrangement allows the Fighting Irish to keep their football independence, while initiating a severely impactful culture change in the ACC. A culture of concessions and special treatment for Notre Dame will negatively impact many future situations the conference will encounter. This type of culture will weaken the ACC in the long run.

How Long Until We Add the Big East to Our Coverage?

In case you missed it, Notre Dame is headed to the ACC for all sports except football. In addition, they will play 5 ACC schools per year on the girdiron. The Big East keeps getting weaker, and considering most of what is left is the old CUSA, this is not a good sign for them staying a major conference. They may still have a few big names, but wow. You have to wonder if this changes anything related to currently planned realignment.

Notre Dame to Join ACC

Multiple sources are reporting that Notre Dame is bringing all sports to the ACC as full time members, with the exception of football, which will play five ACC teams annually. No matter how you feel about Notre Dame, their influence in the college football world is undeniable, and this is a big get for the ACC, who should be in great position to bring Notre Dame in as a complete member should they decide to end their football independence. This is also a huge final blow to the Big East going forward. UPDATE: Apparently this ups the conference exit fee to $50 million. Hi Florida State, our name is Syracuse. I hope you don't mind us putting this poster up on our side of the room. Want a t-shirt?

Notre Dame tapped as preseason Big East favorite, UConn second

Notre Dame, who knocked UConn out of the 2011 NCAA tournament semifinals, got the nod from the league's coaches in a vote separated by three points. This is just the second time in since 1992-93 that the Huskies were not picked to win the conference title. Notre Dame's Skylar Diggins headlined the individual awards as preseason player of the year. 1. Notre Dame (9) 219 2. Connecticut (7) 216 3. Louisville 191 4. Rutgers 176 5. Georgetown 175 6. DePaul 152 7. St. John’s 145 8. Syracuse 123 9. West Virginia 108 10. USF 96 11. Marquette 92 12. Pittsburgh 82 13. Villanova 54 14. Providence 51 15. Cincinnati 38 16. Seton Hall 22

Video assistant speaks about ND tragedy, safety

Self-shared interview with a film assistant--one with responsibilities that are awfully similar to the victim of the Notre Dame tragedy, Declan Sullivan--about the nature of safety in his job and his relationship with coaches. This is really eye-opening stuff. It's not a hit piece and it's not a call for sweeping reform, but I think it helps why Declan got into that lift on Wednesday, against all of his better judgment. Every question was asked for a reason, and every answer helps us understand this tragedy.

Notre Dame student killed while filming practice

Very sad story. Brian Kelly and the staff are being investigated by both campus police and OSHA.

ND Student Dies at Practice

A Notre Dame student died Wednesday after the tower from which he was filming football practice fell over. The university said the accident occurred at the LaBar Practice Complex. The 21-year-old man was transported to a South Bend hospital, where he died.

Pinstripe Bowl a tough sell

Want to get a jump on ordering tickets for this year's Army/Notre Dame game at Yankee Stadium? An email sent out to season ticket holders last week indicated that anyone who wants to get on on the ticket pre-sale for that game will have to buy tickets to the inaugural Pinstripe Bowl and baseball tickets. Between outrageous ticket prices and a stadium that's a poor fit for football, it'll be a surprise if the Yankees can come anyway close to recouping their $2 million payout for the game. Not that I mind the opportunity to gouge Notre Dame fans bandwagoners and pick up their tickets later on the cheap (assuming RU ends up in the game), but widespread scalping won't do any favors for the athletic department's ticket sale numbers. That's another issue with this bowl. A host team like Rutgers is going to be expected to sell a huge number of tickets with the game in our backyard, but at current prices there's a huge incentive to eschew official channels.

Notre Dame using video games to train

Bumped due to the obvious comic content involved in prior clients using said software include Erik "Game Over" Ainge and Jonathan Crompton. Of course now I could play for the Irish. Luckily 2010 doesn't feature the innovative "When will our coach be fired" mode.
