How cool was this? Two GT RB's in one room.

Roddy gave a great talk.

Paul Johnson really is a funny guy, he just can't stand dealing with stupid, redundant questions; i.e. THE MEDIA, but Twitter is letting him "branch out". BTW, he will kick your ass at Golf, Pool, or Table Tennis.

Hash tag for recruiting is "Migration". Roddy was on the Search Committee for Bobinski. Bobinski believes there are student athletes all over the place, and we need to go and get them where ever they are. Xaviers lack of a CFB program meant they had to work harder for excellence in recruiting and CBB.

He still holds the Chamblee High records for yards and TD's.

His parents were a big "help" in getting him to GT for the education, sports and social growth potential of GT over his 25 other offers.

He admitted that the 2nd TD vs. u(sic) was partially due to poor tackling ~~see below.

We'll be OK this Fall, however concerns at WR are concerning. D will be better as it couldn't have gotten much worse under CAG.

If you get a chance to meet or hear Roddy speak, don't miss out. A true STUDENT/Athlete. He begins a Management Training program with AT&T soon.

Stephen Hill gets paid, worth money?

4 years for $5MM, with ~60% of it being guranateed.

I did a little research and this puts him at ~20 on the roster of the NYJ by salary.
http://www.overthecap.com/teamcontract.php?Team=Jets

Whatcha think? Sound about right? Was he worth the money? Smart move by the Jets or are they a mess regardless of one 'not top tier' WR?

Yellow Jackets in the NFL Draft

The NFL Draft is now a week away and I'm getting pretty excited. I was so excited that I decided to do my own mock draft. If you guys want to check it out, here's the link to it. On top of the mock draft, I also discussed where I think all four of Georgia Tech's legitimate NFL prospects will go and what teams might be interested in them. It took a while, but there's some good stuff on there so check it out and let me know what you think. Are you guys as pumped for the draft as I am?

App to track Yellow Jackets in NFL & NBA

Hey all,

A buddy of mine recently created an app called "Draftpedia" that tracks NBA and NFL draft data, rosters, and statistics from the last 40+ years. It lets you sort the data in a lot of different ways - one way is by college so you can see and track every pro that attended Georgia Tech in a single list (which then allows you to see year-by-year stats for every player). It should be a great reference tool for sports history and random trivia.

If you're interested, here's the download link for iPhones/iPads (it's free):
https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/draf...562159411?mt=8

----------------------------------------------------------

Here's a press release from the Wall Street Journal (http://online.wsj.com/article/PR-CO-20130417-908281.html?mod=googlenews_wsj):

Draftpedia's iPhone App Launches for All NBA & NFL Draft Fans

SANTA MONICA, CA--(Marketwired - April 17, 2013) - Draftpedia, the only iPhone app with NFL & NBA draft history, is now available free in the App Store. Built exclusively for mobile, Draftpedia has 30+ years of draft history, past team rosters, draft info for every player's alma mater and statistics for every current player.

Roommates David Rabie and Joe Sarafian hatched the idea for Draftpedia on the couch during a Clipper game. Discussing Kenyon Martin's historically poor draft class, Joe asked why consumers had to rely on searching Wikipedia for the answer. "As Gen Y sports enthusiasts, what has driven us this entire time is to build an app that makes our lives easier," said David Rabie, Co-Founder.

"Given the competition, we knew that our edge would come with speed, efficiency and design. We built a database of information that is stored within the app -- eliminating any loading time between screens and allowing the app to function offline," said Co-Founder Joe Sarafian. The information is presented in clear, easy-to-use tables and is all linkable, offering multiple ways for users to navigate within the app.

Launching just in time for the 2013 NFL Draft, Draftpedia is the ultimate reference guide for any sports fan looking for historical data including:

-- 40+ Years of Past Drafts

-- 30 Years of Team Rosters

-- Every Division 1 College's NFL/NBA Alumni

-- Breakdown by Nationality (NBA) and Pick (NFL)

-- Statistics for Every Current Player

"Next time you're debating a player's alma mater or comparing draft classes, Draftpedia is your best solution," said Rabie.

About Draftpedia

Draftpedia consolidates information about past NFL & NBA drafts in a convenient and fast iPhone app. It has every draft year of the modern era, lists of professional players from every D1 College, past rosters for every team and statistics for every current player. Founded in 2012, Draftpedia is based in Santa Monica, CA. For more information, visit www.draftpedia.com.

Masters Talk

As most of ya'll know by now, I have the GT Pros site and we've been doing a lot of masters updates and what not here. Check it out if you want, but I just figured I'd mention it in this post.

Kuchar played pretty well yesterday and is in pretty good position to take the lead today. He's going out early and the conditions should be pretty nice. It should also be interesting to see if Cink or Mize can make the cut this afternoon, which is going to be around E or +1 I would expect Cink to try and make a move today, but no one really knows if he's still legitimately capable of making any noise. He did two weekends ago, but yesterday was not a good sign. What do you guys think so far? I know Kuchar's play is obviously news to get excited about. Since there isn't a post on the main page, we should use this as a place to discuss it.

Jacket Baseball in free fall?

It seems like less than three weeks ago that we were thinking the Yellow Jacket baseball team would break into the top ten. When I look back about that, well golly, it was less than three weeks ago. Things change in the world, and we must accept that. When you fall to Georgia Southern, twice to Florida State, once to Wake Forest, to Mercer..badly..and twice to Duke all in 13 outings, you are not top ten. Maybe our time has come and gone.

Or has it? This is still the same Yellow Jacket team that led the nation in batting average and slugging percentage earlier in the year. These are the same Jackets who produced players of the week in the conference and in the nation. But something is missing. The fire has gone out. From a team that was making thunder from the upper Piedmont to the Great Lakes, our team is withering into a group that is lacking in self confidence and bravado.

Our time has not come and gone. Our time has come to get going. Again. And the time has come for us fans to send these young men the message. "We are with you. We back you. We are your fellow Jackets, and we know you can win like champions because that is what you still are. We believe in you" Coach Danny Hall's e-mail is listed on the Tech website, so you can look it up for yourself, but I'm not giving away anything by giving it to you other fans. Please send the message. dhall@athletics.gatech.edu

CFN ACC Coaching Analysis - Rebuild Factor

The good people at College Football News have CPJ at #6 in their latest article on which ACC coach you would want ot rebuild your program:

http://cfn.scout.com/2/1280303.html

What do you think? About right? I personally feel he's higher than Dave Dorean from NCST (proved nothing thus far), Al Golden at Miami (Miami is not great) or Larry Fedora (CPJ has UNC's number). Think Dabo and Fischer may be above him, however time will tell.

Orwin Smith Scouting Report

Hey guys! I managed to finish the Orwin Smith scouting report today and I know some of you were really anxious for it, so here it is! It's longer than the others, but I wanted to make sure it was sufficient since he is everyone's favorite player in this year's draft class. Let me know what you guys think!

Since I need to make this a little longer for the minimum word amount, I just wanted to say I've been trying to improve the site aesthetically and any recommendations would be great! Thanks!

Omoregie Uzzi Scouting Report- Part 2

As most of you hopefully saw, I did the first part of Uzzi's scouting report a couple of weeks ago. I finally got around to doing Part 2, which is for the FSU game, and it is now up. If you're interested in my opinion on how he played and where he will go in the draft (you definitely should be!), then check it out here. I've now done Uzzi, Sweeting, and Barnes, but I'm not sure whether I should do one for Orwin. He still has a chance to be drafted so I might depending on everyone's input. Do you guys want to see an Orwin Smith scouting report?

Reality bites (and it has sharp teeth!)

If we thought we were on the road to baseball fame and fortune at the beginning of last week, it didn't take us long to realize that our baseball team is the starlet who gets a few good breaks in commercials and winds up in B westerns being carried off by the Indians.

Tech baseball went into last week ranked at #11, ready to make the big jump to the top ten, and left the week going 1 for 4 and leaving fans realizing that great dreams don't happen, they are often carved out of reworked nightmares. First it was Georgia Southern throwing Tech off the mountain top from their Eagle's nest. Then hopes were shattered as a crushing victory was answered in the bottom game of a Friday doubleheader by an equally crushing defeat at the hands of swamp-dwelling aboriginals. The faithful had to wait through a tortured Saturday that was tame in the face of the earlier storms of dying Winter, only to find that Palm Sunday was no time of hallelujahs from the golden city in Atlanta.

Losing three games in a week is not a sign that this team is not talented and unable to compete at a national level, but a drop from 17-2 to 18-5 in the space of 6 days does not sit well with the judges of national powers. Nor should it open opportunities for us, the fans, to begin making excuses. Our team had the big chance, the big break, and it fell on its face last week. So going into this Easter week with a team that is .666 against conference foes has to give us serious pause and make us hope that, with games against Citadel and Wake Forest, this will not be a road to execution but rather to resurrection by Sunday's end.

CPJ shows sense in recruiting, again

Once again Coach Johnson has had a chance to use his soapbox and microphone for the forces of good old common sense in the world of college football recruiting. Highlights include his common sense approach, his advocacy for an early signing period, his wishing that high school coaches would help out a little bit more often, and his praise (though indirectly and without naming names) of none other than new Miami student athlete Corn Elder.

It's a monologue that takes the ambiguity out of Coach Johnson's sometimes-controversial (though widely misunderstood) stance on recruiting. You can't misinterpret him when he explains it so thoroughly (all the while talking normally to us, like an actual person from the Southeast rather than using "coachspeak.") For the last time, the man knows what he's doing, and the college football world would probably do well to listen to him! I'm sure he's not the only head coach who feels this way.

Fall 2013 Recruiting- Anyone know about the walk-ons?

I know that Tech has selected 10 Fall of 2013 freshman walk-ons, and one of them is Mitch Williams, (6'1, 235 DE) from Milton H.S. in Alpharetta. Anyone have knowledge of who the other 9 are? Mitch played DE opposite Carl Lawson (Auburn), benches nearly 400, squats over 500, and cleans over 300 lbs. At the state weight lifting tournament at Lambert H.S. this past weekend, he ended up the 3rd strongest kid in the state in the 225 to 244 weight category.

The National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association moved Georgia Tech up three spots this week from its previous #14 ranking to #11 in the nation. The White (and Gold) -hot Jackets swept Boston College this past weekend, scoring a total of 32 runs in the three game series.

Here is the report from the NCBWA website itself (http://www.sportswriters.net/ncbwa/news/2013/poll130318.html):

DALLAS (NCBWA) – The National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association continues its tradition of NCAA Division I polls for the 16th year with its 2013 weekly surveys. Polls will be circulated from Feb. 18-June 27 (weekly through June 11) following the 67th annual NCAA World Series in Omaha, Neb., at TD Ameritade Park.

North Carolina (five consecutive weeks) and Arkansas (preseason No. 1) have held down the No. 1 position throughout the 2013 surveys. The poll voters come from 44 college baseball writers and related media persons from throughout the nation.

The current poll has representation by 10 different conferences (15 total for the season) among the 298 baseball-playing schools in the 2013 NCAA Division I ranks. The surveys of 2012 had a NCBWA-poll record 22 different DI conferences and independents rated at least one week.
