For Coach Johnson and the Jackets, it has been an off-season full of optimism and raised expectations. Recruiting received a major boost in exposure after both the win vs. uga, and the BIG bowl win against Mississippi State, which has helped Georgia Tech land 9 verbal commitments so far. Today, we update on a 2017 offer most people knew was coming and two big official visits being scheduled, but first we take a look at a recent 2016 offer to an in-state athlete.
2016 Offer
Tremayne Anchrum is a talented offensive lineman from McEachern HS in nearby Powder Springs. He has other offers from Nebraska, USC, uga, and Colorado among others. He is rated as a very high 3-star, according to 247Sports, and is reportedly ready to announce his commitment early next month. Tech may have entered this race a little too late, but never count out CPJ and the Jackets. Check out his highlights below.
Official Visits Scheduled
These visits are a long, long long ways away, but these are two commits that could single handedly help the Jackets fly up recruiting rankings. Having both of these prospects on campus the same weekend is going to be HUGE, especially the weekend before NSD 2016.
DE Jordan Woods- North Marion HS in Citra, FL. Holds offers from Florida (Crystal Ball Favorite), Florida State, Miami, and South Carolina among others. Rated as a 4-Star, and a Top-20 DE in the country.
OG Donovaughn Campbell- Ponchatoula HS in Ponchatoula, LA. His name may seem familiar, as he is the brother of 2015 commit Christian Campbell. The brotherly duo would cause some serious damage in the ACC, and even though Campbell is committed to LSU, GT is known to be on his mind quite often. His recruitment is something to follow very closely as the season goes on.
2017 Offer
Stating September 1st at 12:01 AM Coaches were allowed to make contact with 2017 recruits, CPJ and company were ready and made contact with local 3-Star S Stuart Head. Head plays for Etowah HS in Woodstock, GA and has been on the coaching staff's radar for quite some time now. Prior to his offer from GT,he holds other offers from Cal, Duke, and Clemson among others. His size (6-foot-4, 190 pounds) makes him a recruit primed for a breakout season, as well as an increase in offers.
