Georgia Tech Football Recruiting: QB/S A.J. Gray is Commitment #2

Daniel Shirey-USA TODAY Sports

Georgia Tech got some great news on Tuesday, in the form of their second commitment for 2015.

A.J. Gray, an all-state quarterback out of Washington County High School in Sandersville, GA (also home to the recent graduate Brandon Watts), committed to Georgia Tech on Tuesday. He is the second commitment of the 2015 class, joining OL Will Bryan. While revered as a QB, Gray committed to Georgia Tech as a safety. He played both ways on this year's GA Class AAA runner-up and was named the AAA offensive player of the year by the Georgia Sports Writer's Association. He also took his school's basketball team to the state quarterfinals.

He commits to Georgia Tech over North Carolina, an impressive coup for the Yellow Jackets' recruiting staff given Gray's sister, Allisha, is a freshman on the Tar Heels' basketball team after being named the 2012 Gatorade Player of the Year. At 6'1", 196lbs, Gray is slotted at safety, but quarterback is not being ruled out for him. His high school coach spoke very highly of the Georgia Tech recruiting staff to the Augusta Chronicle, especially highlighting how sincere the coaches were in their pursuit of AJ towards a family all too familiar with the recruiting process and its nuances.

Unrated by the major services thus far, Gray did make the comment to 247Sports that teammate linebacker Logan Hunt was "100 percent coming" to Georgia Tech with him. There's a chance that Tech's class grows again in the coming days based on those words.

Gray's highlights can be found on his Hudl page.
