2012 Top 10 Plays: (1) Quayshawn Nealy's INT vs USC

Danny Karnik/Georgia Tech Athletics

The play of the year was not only a great athletic feat, but it iced our first bowl win since 2004.

Countdown to Kickoff: 38 Days...

The Situation: With under 7 minutes to go in the game, Georgia Tech leads USC 21-7. USC's offense has struggled all day long, but after starting on their own 29-yard line, Freshman QB Max Wittek has found some rhythm and it's only taken them 6 plays to go 67 yards. They find themselves in scoring position on the Georgia Tech 4 with 3rd and 3 with 6:27 left in regulation.

The Play: Max Wittek is in the shotgun with a back and four wide. He takes the snap and watches Robert Woods the entire way on a deep crossing route, majorly forecasting his throw to the Jackets' defense. He fires a pass that would be right on the money...were it not for Quayshawn Nealy being in the right place at the right time. Nealy bats the pass up into the air, and is able to dive and make the catch in a very acrobatic move. Not only was the play impressive athletically, but given the situation, it was the best of the year. USC was knocking on the door, finally in rhythm offensively after being a mess for most of the game, with momentum on their side. However, that only lasted until Quayshawn Nealy was able to stamp it out and seal the win for Georgia Tech.

The Aftermath: Georgia Tech ran 8 plays on the ensuing drive, running 4:41 off of the clock, and USC's final drive was ended with a Jamal Golden interception in the end zone. Two kneel-downs later, Georgia Tech were Sun Bowl champions.

Where does this play fall on your radar for the season? Is it truly the #1 play?
