One of Coach Paul Johnson's major strengths since making it to campus has been making the most out of a group that isn't loaded with exceptional talent. He's able to face teams with superior talent and beat them through superior coaching and discipline. As much as Alabama, georgia, Florida, LSU, Ohio State, Oregon, Stanford, et al. are impressive football teams altogether, to me it's more impressive when a coach can overcome a talent deficiency to compete with others in the way that Coach Johnson has.
Check out the video below from Campus Insiders that talks about Coach Johnson (along with TCU's Gary Patterson and Navy's Ken Niumatalolo) being one of the best in the business when it comes to making lemonade out of lemons.
We here at FTRS are pretty shameless homers sometime, but I'm honestly impressed with coaches who are able to overcome talent deficiencies to win. Do you see CPJ as one of the best in the business in that sense, or is he more of an average coach when it comes to coaching guys up?
