Well, my biggest blunders were were picking us to beat the Hokies and Duke to beat State. Of course, I also missed on Maryland twice. Here goes. I have to improve this week.
Jan 15 - Wake @ Clemson - I don't think the Deacons will win on the road. Clemson by 8.
Jan 16 - Miami @ Boston College - This should be easy for the Canes. Miami by 20+.
Jan 16 - NC State @ Maryland - State has to have a let down after their emotional win over Duke, but the Terps are struggling more than I expected. And State offers match-up problems for Maryland. The Pack by 5.
Jan 17 - Ga Tech @ Duke - I would love to be wrong about this, but I am very pessimistic. Not having Kelly will keep Duke from beating us by more than 20. The home crowd at Cameron will get to our guys early. The guys in blue will win by 15+. *
Jan 19 - Maryland @ North Carolina - When your best player is not living up to expectations, it hurts a young team. Carolina has problems against good teams. Terps to win in overtime or at the buzzer.
Jan 19 - Wake Forest @ Virginia Tech - Erick Green is on a roll and Wake has no one to guard him. VPI to win a close game.
Jan 19 - FSU @ Virginia - I have not figured out what's going on with either of these teams. The Noles have a ton more talent, but playing on the road is tough. I am picking them to beat the Cavs in a low scoring game. Maybe by ten points.
Jan 20 - Clemson @ NC State - This game could get ugly. The Pack will roll by 25+ and Leslie could have a huge game.
* Don't get your hopes up this week. I cannot imagine Duke losing twice in a row, or to us at home. We have no one to match-up with Plumlee and he will likely be our biggest problem. If we pack the lane to stop the big guys, Curry and Cook and Thornton will have open three. All three are hitting 40% or better from beyond the arc. Also, we are still not shooting well and Duke does not allow many uncontested shots. Also, we have to start hitting free throws. It's killing us.
