Where were you 10 years ago?

Sports Illustrated

San Antonio-Final Four

# 3 Seed GT from the St. Louis Region came in at 23-9 with an At Large Bid.

The Jackets beat:

#14 N. Iowa

#6 BC

#10 Nevada (my heart was in my throat at the end of that 72-67 barn burner)

I got on a flight to San Antonio. Another alum told me he out and back while completing his Senior Design Project (AE) in the back seat of the car, he now builds G6's for Gulfstream so that all worked out pretty well.

Two days of warm weather golf, one in the Quarry. Yes, you leave your out of bounds balls alone, I saw 6 big buzzworms just off the fairway.

It was great to be around many of the greats of the game: Coach Bobby Cremins , Coach John Thompson, CORNBREAD MAXWELL, Steve Alford, etc all over the town, especially on the River.

Winners included:

San Antonio, a happening town, and the 1/2 of the Alamo Dome makes for great viewing. I lucked into a ticket half way up the temporary stands, right on center court.

UCONN who was by far the best team in the nation a decade ago (Emeka Okafor, Charlie Villaneuva, Ben Gordon, etc.)

Will Bynum who would have won the UCONN game himself given 15 more minutes.

Luuuuuke, who had the coolest Tshirt of all time.

Rough, Tough, Clough getting a standing O when walking down the aisle in the GT section on Saturday night.

Losers included:

Dook, spoiling the chance for an All ACC Final

Eddie Sutton-what a whiner, calling GT the least deserving team to be in San Antonio.

Both Semi Final games were great: GT 67, OKS 65 and UCONN 79, Dook 78.

A really cool weekend, a true GT memory!

Where were you, what are your memories? Are you old enough to remember?
