The Jackets enter back into McCamish after an upsetting home game against Miami followed by a well fought game against NC State. This time, the Jackets hope to be victorious against their Technical rivals, Virginia Tech.
The Jackets have fought well so far this year, with a record of 10-4. They exited OOC play with a very strong defense and a great record on paper. ACC play have fans questioning how the young team will look against stronger opponents. While stats have dwindled a bit, the Jackets still look very strong on defense, being top 10 in scoring defense (6th) and FG% (8th) nationally, as well as 2nd and 3rd in the ACC in those stats. However, the Jackets rank 11th in the ACC for offensive production with an average 65.6 ppg. This offensive production needs to increase in order to the Jackets to see success this season. This starts and ends with feeling comfortable, which is something they established in non-conference play but was upset with the string teams of the ACC. Coach Gregory talked about improving the offense yesterday at media availability, saying the three things the Jackets needed to work on was the transition game, snatching up offensive boards, and keeping the big scorer under wraps. Shutting down Erick Green is one of those things everyone seems to agree on, from us here at FTRS to the Key Play guys to Coach himself. If the Jackets hope to win, they need to do all these things and be more productive consistently on offense. Consistency is key, in any game.
The Jackets tip is at 2:30 in McCamish Pavilion. For those of you unable to make the game, the play can be seen on WATL locally on the ACC network and on the radio through 106.7FM and AM790. Follow GTNate on here for live info and stats on the game.
