Georgia Tech, FSU, and Clemson and ACC Scheduling Dependency
Bud Elliot of Tomahawk Nation:
In order to preserve seven home games, FSU and Clemson, both in the Atlantic Division, and both with road games in odd years at UF and South Carolina, respectively, need the Atlantic division to play its five home games in odd numbered years. Georgia Tech has the same need in the Coastal, only reversed, as they play at Georgia in even years. The solution is obvious and I have a lot of faith that the ACC will get this right.

And the road trip to Atlanta is quite welcome by many a ’Nole fan.
I encourage them to continue thinking this way…

This is the most sound, thought out idea I have read on future ACC scheduling
And it is for that reason that I expect to see nothing like this from John Swofford and co. once the Panthers and Orange join the conference.

I would have thought that too
but then Swofford and Co snuck in and shocked everyone by plucking Pitt and Syracuse

One team unable to fill its stadium regardless who is there, the other with such an outdated facility that they can barely recruit.
Never been sold on Swofford, and while I have enjoyed prior expansion and the conference championship game, I don’t think I will ever believe he was doing this for the good of the conference. There have been to many instances where he’s allowed scheduling snafu’s, 1st & 2nd & 3rd Tier rights to be given away for nothing in return, Officiating crews still have jobs, not to mention countless other items where he has done what could be conceived as best for his alma mater, and not the good of the conference. I’ll be happy once he’s gone.

True enough
I wanted WVU and Pitt. Despite the academic ramifications of 50% of that equation, WVU football would instantly be a top-half team in the ACC. Pitt and Syracuse won’t be able to sniff Charlotte for years, in my opinion.

I still want UConn and Louisville.
If we’re talking football, remind me again why we’re looking Big East? If we’re talking basketball, those 4 would be MAJOR pickups.

I was thinking more of the “geographic lock” that we took on the east coast. should have explained better

Just curious
How do Clemson fans feel about ’Cusey’s uniforms being….virtually the same as theirs? I mean, we Tech fans generally feel superior to everyone we play, but I think most Jackets fans would say when we play ND, Navy, Army, Vandy, Wake, and (maybe in the future) Pitt there’s this special kind of “Hey, pal, gold helmets are for real men around here.” As I see it, Syracuse and Clemson have uniforms that look almost identical if you just swap purple for navy blue and replace the paw with an ‘S’. Has this been discussed out in orange overall country, and, if so, what is the word from the aggritariate? I could see a little rivalry brewing as Death Valley remains one of the orangest places known to mankind. I, of course, would side with the team that chooses to play God’s game outdoors where He can see it.
