I think this was a huge pick up
From everything I read this guy was underrated until late in the signing process at which point more and more schools realized they were letting a real gem get away. I honestly believe when this guy matures he could start for any team in the country.

Was CPJ correct...
in that with Beau Hankins and Justin Thomas we have the Alabama 6A defensive and offensive players of the year in this year’s recruiting class?

You're asking if CPJ was correct?

This kid can really...
play some football. Will probably line up as an inside linebacker for the Yellow Jackets. I was quite surprised we were able to get him on signing day. This player is going to be a very good defender and brings a load on his tackles. Excellent pick up by the staff!
All these new recruits look good
I hope they are good enough. There seems no way to really tell how good we have done this year. The recruiting services don’t think too highly of our class, but admit we don’t actually need the kind of players on offense the ratings are designed to praise. This kid is really aggressive and has good size. I bet he will be a solid player in the mold of Keith Brookings. I hope he’s as good.

Everytime I look over this class . . .
I feel really good about it. The only slight anxiety I feel has to do with a coaching decision that I am glad I am not making. This is the class that might finally put Tech over the top in terms of future wins and future recruiting. Do we exercise patience and redshirt most of them or do we throw them into the fray now?

If we keep having seasons like this past one
we might not have a choice but to throw the newbs in.

As bad as 8-5 might have felt...
just remember we’re not Maryland…2-10 and lost 24 scholarship players in the last 12 months.

That is where my anxiety comes from
I would hate for the pressure to produce a certain record now keep us from doing the long slow building that will take care of the program for years to come. You squander several years of talent that way just for adding one or two more wins now. Thankfully, coaches are usually wise enough to know where to draw the line on these decisions.

Business folks
Usually see the value in delayed gratification. But they are also the ones who become wealthy retiree alumni who pressure the AD and coaches about winning immediately.

I'm patient enough for that
and I know YOU’RE patient enough for that, but is the rest of the world? That’s what scares me.

Who are we kidding Nate, you're not patient enough for that....
Not that I really am either. Every year I have to spend listening to the buttsniffers getting in my ear about how they won 2 more games than us gets increasingly more miserable…

I'm starting to just...
…not care about record anymore and make sure we win that one game again. Just to shut them all up for a while.

Every year
we have a few players that don’t redshirt and many that do. One of our best recruits last season (Hunt-Days) was redshirted, which I think is a good sign for CPJ’s ability to think reasonably. This season, we may have to keep some defensive linemen active. Outside of that, I don’t think we actually need the players to be there this season. Therefore, it should only be based on performance.
Performance it is
I will be looking hard at the competition in two areas, quarterback and defensive line. What I like is that in both places we have experience and we have incoming talent. I honestly feel we will come out great in both areas because whoever wins the competition, whether it is experience, or whether it is phenomenal new talent, we will have the best players on the field. Not that all the other areas aren’t just as important but these two key areas look primed to make huge strides based on who performs best and gets the starting job. How excited am I? Off the charts with regard to these two areas. Because in both places it does not require pinning hopes on just one or two players but rather letting the creme rise to the top among lots of potential stars.
