Week 5's ACC Swagger Meter: It's Dabolicious!
This week, Bird polled the From the Rumble Seat cast of misfits for their opinion on who racked up the most swagger last weekend. The Clemson Tigers cast a pretty big shadow over the rest of the ACC with their offensive explosion against a supposedly stout Florida State defense. Georgia Tech and Virginia Tech are still nipping at the heels of the #1 slot. The biggest swagger swings were the Clemson (+36%) and the Miami Hurricanes (-84%!!!).

As a Maryland fan ...
I think you have the Terps too high on this graphic. Ugly, ugly loss last weekend.
I’m not looking forward to UMD’s visit to Atlanta in a couple weeks. It’s going to be a long season for the Terps.
As an ACC fan, I hope GT (and Clemson and VT and maybe FSU) can kick some butt on the national scene.
I think this Saturday will be ugly for the Wolfpack in Raleigh.
Assumption is the mother of all @#%-ups.
I voted the Terps 0% SWAG

Boy was I wrong about Maryland
After the win against Miami I thought Maryland was going to overachieve this year, based primarily on what appeared to be a good coaching job. I was only slightly daunted after the close loss to West Virginia. Now I am trying to figure out whether these guys are just bad or really, really bad.

I think...
…it’s a “play up”/“play down” thing. Tech under Gailey would perform that way most of the time. Play up to a name opponent and pull a win or a very close loss out, and then suffer inexplicable losses to teams who shouldn’t be beating us. Maybe it’s due to their being in transition under the new coaching staff? That’s just a guess.
I would, but...
…this isn’t the Sixth Sense, and I can’t see dead programs.

Georgia Tech fans,
at least those old enough to remember, love Ralph Friedgen. I’m pretty sure if Maryland hadn’t hired him he would have become our head coach after O’Leary quit.
I understand things weren’t all that great, but they don’t look all that much better now. Maybe it wasn’t all his fault. Probably, though, he’s one of those guys who is a great coordinator but not so great as a head coach.
I’m surprised Fridge hasn’t turned up at UCF as O’Leary’s OC.
Friedgen offenses were as much fun to watch as Johnson's
One minute they would be in a shot-gun, next they would shift to a veer option, then back to a pro set and then run a little wishbone at you. In his hay-day Friedgen was a master of offensive complexity.

With Friedgen as OC and O'Leary as DC
a team could have a shot at the national championship, don’t you think?
Yes, I do :-)
and I think it did.

I checked, and I see
that one of Friedgen’s former assistants is OC at UCF, so there’s a connection.
