Fun Gameday Fact

At 4:22 EST an Air Force T-6 flying out of Columbus, Mississippi will perform a pregame flyover of Sanford Stadium. Piloting that T-6 will be one of the most decorated Georgia Tech Air Force ROTC graduates ever and one Helluva Engineer! He reports he’ll be wearing his GT class ring.

Offenses and Defensive line schemes

I am hoping we are going to see a little more of what these units have in their arsenal that they are slowly unwrapping as the competition gets tougher each succeeding week.

Quick strike

14 seconds is all it took to score. 73 yard pass from Washington to Zenon.

"You could spend the next fifteen seconds of your life watching a man and a tiger scream together, or you could be an idiot."
Fact.

Decent passing stats

Washington is 2 for 2 for 144 yards and 2 touchdowns.

by CraigT on Sep 10, 2011 7:36 PM EDT reply actions

Well, there go the stats

No touchdown that time, and only 41 yards.

I hope Hill is OK.

by CraigT on Sep 10, 2011 7:49 PM EDT up reply actions

Well, crap

There’s an incomplete pass. He’s only 4 of 5 for 191 yards and 2 TDs.

by CraigT on Sep 10, 2011 8:01 PM EDT up reply actions

What is the seating capacity of the frying pan?

I know they were predicting over 30,000 but there are a lot of empty seats.

by Atlanta's original team on Sep 10, 2011 7:46 PM EDT reply actions

Wikipedia says 31000

Apparently it can be expanded to 71000, but “there are no plans” for that

by evanseeds on Sep 10, 2011 7:56 PM EDT up reply actions

That's what I thought so . .

the crowd must be a little disappointing given all the hype before hand.

by Atlanta's original team on Sep 10, 2011 8:00 PM EDT up reply actions

Ah, there it is

Tech’s first fumble. NOW it’s an official game.

by evanseeds on Sep 10, 2011 7:58 PM EDT reply actions

"3rd and long here. You never know what Tech will do"

“They’ll run the ball here, as well as possibly pass it.”

Oh, really?

by evanseeds on Sep 10, 2011 7:59 PM EDT reply actions

:-)

Time to talk about Tech being out of their comfort zone when they have to throw and other overused cliches.

by Atlanta's original team on Sep 10, 2011 8:01 PM EDT up reply actions

wow, a successful special teams play

A long punt, and a first contact tackle. I’m not sure I’ve ever seen Tech do that in my 4 years of watching

Good week for the ACC

Looks like we won all out of conference games. Although what happened with Clampson?

by PeterInVA on Sep 10, 2011 8:05 PM EDT reply actions

Duke lost

As if that counts as a game.

by evanseeds on Sep 10, 2011 8:06 PM EDT up reply actions

right right

I thought they would lose worse. Moral victory?

by PeterInVA on Sep 10, 2011 8:07 PM EDT up reply actions

Clemson didnt look too good last week either

They were behind at points in the 3rd quarter in both games. They look to be quite overrated.

by jlanders on Sep 10, 2011 8:33 PM EDT up reply actions

Maybe a kick off return for a touchdown would be appropriate.

by Atlanta's original team on Sep 10, 2011 8:08 PM EDT up reply actions

Just got home from Mellow Mushroom

Being surrounded by a bunch of "U"GA fans as they lost yet again made me quite happy. It helped cover for the fact that I couldn’t be watching GT throw two 50+ yds TDs.

How much longer for Richt or Bobo?

georgie fans ready to burn down Savannah.

Schadenfreude’s a bitch!

by DressHerInWhiteAndGold on Sep 10, 2011 9:11 PM EDT up reply actions

I doubt they will let him go mid-season

But if they lose to Florida and GT, or maybe even just to Vandy and Kentucky, then he’s going to be damn close to getting the hobnail boot, as they like to say in Athens.

"You could spend the next fifteen seconds of your life watching a man and a tiger scream together, or you could be an idiot."

Georgia looked a lot better yesterday

If Murray hadn’t tried to get rid of the ball as he was being dragged down I think Georgia would have won. He had the ball tucked in and the South Carolina player was pulling him down. Then he lifted his arm to throw and lost his grip.

I think Georgia will be fine.

by CraigT on Sep 11, 2011 5:51 AM EDT up reply actions

Hate to admit it...

…but the ONLY thing keeping Richt’s job at georgie is his record against Tech. If he did any worse than .500 (like Donnan), he’d be GONE. Maybe even worse than .667.

If they lose to Florida? Don’t you mean WHEN? Losing to UF comes with that job as of late.

Wherever Richt lands he will be fine—maybe Miami (his alma mater)? Now that would SUCK.

If georgie were smart (insert joke here), they would keep Richt and fire Bobo. But then again, offense didn’t lose that game (aside from turnovers).

Off topic, but

who does Georgia Tech have at the nickel and dimebacks?

its hard for me to tell

Where do you see Reid playing?

by Atlanta's original team on Sep 10, 2011 8:57 PM EDT up reply actions

It would be nice to see Lyons get the first down when everyone is expecting a run up the middle.

by Atlanta's original team on Sep 10, 2011 9:03 PM EDT reply actions

I would still like to see Days give up the ball

Just once I’d like to see him make a pitch. Sims (and maybe Jones) could hit a hundred tonight if they ever get the ball.

by CraigT on Sep 10, 2011 9:06 PM EDT reply actions

He runs well but he doesn’t seem to run the option that well.

by Atlanta's original team on Sep 10, 2011 9:10 PM EDT up reply actions

He's making tosses to Zenon

but those are called plays, not option reads.

I don’t think I’ve seen him make a pitch on an option read. Ever.

by CraigT on Sep 10, 2011 9:29 PM EDT up reply actions

Agreed

He’s trying to be a superstar instead of playing within the system.

Another off topic topic

But has TJ Barnes played much in the first two games? If not, I wonder if they would consider moving him to DE?

by Atlanta's original team on Sep 10, 2011 9:17 PM EDT reply actions

So...

Have we not taught Synjyn that pitching the ball is legal?

THWG!

by gtg991z on Sep 10, 2011 9:26 PM EDT reply actions

Ohhh-h-h-h, those must be the new rules, coach.

by Atlanta's original team on Sep 10, 2011 9:30 PM EDT up reply actions

I'm concerned about the defense

and how they will do with a really good team.

The offense, except for a couple of fumbles, is fine.

And Days needs to learn to read the defense and make a pitch. Keeping the ball is working tonight, but it won’t against North Carolina.

by CraigT on Sep 10, 2011 9:39 PM EDT reply actions   1 recs

100% agreed, sir.

Especially on the defensive front. I’m very very concerned there… it feels like “bend but don’t break” but we’re REALLY bending…

THWG!

by gtg991z on Sep 10, 2011 10:14 PM EDT up reply actions

I don't know

Have you watched NC’s games yet? Keeping might still work against them. I haven’t been impressed.

Not that I don't agree with your point

Because I absolutely do agree that he needs to L2pitch.
