Allen was selected in the 7th round of the 2011 NFL Draft by the Baltimore Ravens. Allen is the 8th running back drafted out of Georgia Tech since Eddie Lee Ivery's selection in 1979. This is the first time Tech has had feature backs drafted in consecutive seasons since 1984-1985 (Ronny Cone/Robert Lavette).

Allen is the only GT player drafted.

Whenever someone questions how good CPJ is as a coach, this is something to think about. UNC had nine players drafted. uga had six. We beat the Heels and would have beaten uga with Nesbitt in the lineup. I remember Steve Spurrier once said, " What happens to all the 5-star recruits that uga signs?"

I wouldn't use the Carolina game too much

Most of those players were suspended for that game, and you nearly lost. As far as UGA, keep the moral victories coming.

None of us see the uga game as a moral victory.

As for UNC, three of their players, Carter, Austin & Little, were suspended for the GT game. The other six played.

That's right

It was against LSU that they were short players and LSU had to pull out a last second win.

You forgot the biggest one.

Robert Quinn. And I thought that they had at least 7 players on defense suspended the WHOLE season.

Not to name names but I predicted a couple of players in particular that I did not think would get drafted.

You were right, too.

I think they knew they weren't going to get drafted

It seemed like they were just ready to go (Claytor, Tarrant, etc.).

That's interesting

My impression was that Tarrant thought highly of himself. Do you think they were just tired of school?

If they listened

If they would have asked any NFL person, I’m sure they would have been told that they were late round or undrafted guys. From the standpoint of coming out early, that means “don’t come out early.” Maybe they did think highly of themselves, but to think that the NFL scouts are wrong is not a good idea.

According to SB Nation

Terrant got bad advice from somebody who was supposed to be in the know.

Do you know who it was?

by orientalnc on May 3, 2011 12:02 AM EDT up reply actions

No. I only saw this one report and it was not attributed and no sources were given.

Tarrant was a redshirt junior.

So in essence he was a senior. But Claytor should have stayed at Georgia Tech.
