Georgia Tech Baseball Update: 9 Wins in a Row and Counting

Stay connected for news and updates
Tech has scored 6.8 runs per game in its first 18 games and has posted a 14-4 record. Last season, Tech was 12-2 at this point and was scoring an amazing 10.3 runs per game. Both seasons are fairly similar in runs allowed at 3.3 in 2010 and 3.4 in 2011. Tech swept its first ACC series in 2010 and swept Maryland last weekend.

Tech's next opponent is NC State. State is 10-7 in 2011 and has struggled on the road this season (2-3 overall). State is averaging 5.7 runs per game but is allowing 4.4 runs per game. The State bats are batting 0.293 as a team. State's bats are led by Chris Diaz (batting .424). He's a smart batter that just knows how to get on base. He doesn't hit for power and 0.576 OBP.

State has mixed it up a lot amongst its weekend starters. Six different guys have started for State in 2011 and the pitching staff has a 3.99 ERA. State has given up 10 homers and a bunch of HBP's. It makes you wonder about their pitching coaches...

Good luck to the Jackets. Beat State!
