The Triple Option offense will never produce NFL-quality talent at the WR position…

Second.
The Church of Paul Johnson - There's not much to it outside of whooping ass and giving haters the finger. To HELL With georgie!
High School wide receivers might as well skip official visits to Tech since it is clear they will never learn what they need to play at the next level . . .

Well...
I guess if you practice catching bad passes in college, then it’ll work out when you get to the NFL and have to catch bad passes.
In all seriousness, he’s the best offensive weapon on the Broncos.
Sir, I would invest in some non-conductive clothing and steer clear of walking alone in wide open grassy fields, for there is a lighting bolt somewhere out there with your name on it…

It is raining today
Maybe I should stay at work…nah.
You'd want conductive clothing
to give the lightning a better path to ground that through your body.
Which little myth?
The one that says a running quarterback can’t make it in the NFL or the one that says Tech doesn’t attract or produce good wide receivers?

Side note to the Tebow thing . . . I have no vested interest in the fact that he is winning as a rookie right now but I do find it hilarious that even in the pros there are a number of experts who suggest that Denver has been winning with smoke and mirrors and it doesn’t really count because Tebow is not a real quarterback.
How many times have we heard Tech’s detractors discount every win by saying, “Well, sure they win sometimes because that offense is so strange.”

Same old nonsense...
Win: GT executed well…
Lose: The Triple Option will never work…

Tebow is a second year player
I admit that he’s making plays, but that team is not winning because of their offense. The defense is stout and the offense makes enough plays to finish the game (thanks in large part to Thomas). Also keep in mind that they’ve been getting lucky with the teams they’ve faced lately.
Yep, still learning how to be a starter.

The option WR thing.
“WR’s playing option ball can’t make it in the NFL because there’s no chance to develop the necessary skills. They’re too busy blocking. They only run the post rout. Blah Blah Blah…”
Bay Bay was a shining example of a 3-star wideout with the physical tools developing all the right skills to be taken in the 1st round of the draft and in two seasons begin producing like mad in the NFL. His development was thanks to WR Coach Buzz Preston.
Nobody can detract from Thomas's skills or his accomplishments at Tech or in at Denver.
The problem is that there’s nobody else in the pipeline to match him. He wasn’t recruited by Johnson, and so far none of Johnson’s WR recruits hold a candle to him.
It's not like Bey Bey was as highly recruited as say...Calvin Johnson
He was a 3-star WR recruit (#34 nationally I think) coming out of West Laurens HS…high stock but not “first WR taken in the NFL” high. That came from having superior physical tools and some level of collegiate development.
I think the bigger challenge is trying to convince a HS 4- or 5-star WR prospect to sell an offense where you block downfield on 90% of the offensive snaps.
People get so wrapped up in “systems” as if they can’t be taught at the next level. Truth is, you put an AJ Green or Calvin Johnson in a Triple Option offense they"ll still get drafted as high as they would in other systems.

Wide receiver is a position more athleticism-based than most
And I would include ‘skills’ (blocking, hands, anything) in athleticism there. There really isn’t a whole lot of analysis involved mid-play, where there could be at QB, safety, cornerback, or even running back or linebacker.
“Here’s the play. Go (run this route/block this guy) and (catch the ball if it’s thrown to you/make sure he doesn’t get to the guy running with the ball). Luckily you’re 6’5”, 235lbs and have every athletic ability necessary to get those tasks done."

Stephen Hill
Not yet. But if (when) he’s back for next season he can definitely do it. He has the physical tools. Just needs to improve the hands.
He's no Demaryius Thomas
He could be good, but he won’t be that good.
I dunno
More consistency and he certainly could be. He’s a hell of an athlete. Very fast, tall, frame’s getting bigger, good blocker (especially downfield). If he becomes a reliable pass-catcher (like, catches everything he should and a lot that are otherwise possible), he’s probably a Day 2 pick in the draft.

I agree with everything you say
but he’s still no Thomas. That’s a lot of if’s, and it still doesn’t make him a first-WR-of-the-draft good.
Shall we agree that he is no Thomas YET?
I agree with that snotty little brat Lilbroey who usually doesn’t know what the heck he is talking about but in this case is pretty close to the truth. If Hill were to become more consistent he would have all the upside of a Thomas.

I agree
but how often do you get a first round receiver? We got lucky with two in the past decade. UGA had A.J. Green and Mohammed Massaquoi (2nd rounder) the past few years, but no one before that for decades.
BUT
That can be a self-fulfilling recruiting tool if sold correctly.
“Hey, young 4 or 5-star receiver, here at Tech all you have to do is look at Calvin Johnson and Demaryius Thomas to see that we take good receivers like you and put them in the league. You learn our way of blocking (which HELPS you get drafted, not hurts it) and we’ll make you our star in the passing game!”
Absolutely
I would hope the coaches are using that to try to bring in talented players. As a fan, however, I cannot expect that every season.
Would he give it up
for 1 catch vs u(sic)GA in 2009?
I would.
