Fun With Scenarios!

First of all, lets note this is purely hypothetical.  I am not expecting this to happen, and in fact if you calculated the odds of this I'm sure they'd be so long it would make Ball State's odds against Alabama look big.  That said, we're number 13 right now.  Say we run the table (knock on virtual wood), and everybody above us loses one game.  Do they let us into the MNC?  They can't, no matter how much they want to, pit AL and LSU against each other as they will play each other during the regular season and only one of them can go to the essshhhh eeeee ceeeee champaingship game.  So do you think they would let us in?  I personally don't want to see it happen because either LSU or Rammer Jammer would eat us alive.  I'd much rather go to either another BSC game (say, the sugar or fiesta) or the Chicken-Fil-A/Cotton bowl and have a chance at winning rather than getting trounced in the NC game.

And I didn't include the Orange

because we don’t get any real respect for qualifying for the Orange bowl. “Oh, they just won the ACC, they still suck because the ACC sucks” kinda deal.

I think the story in 09 would have been different if we'd beaten Iowa.

first play from scrimmage was a TD called back cause of holding..

would have been a whole different ball game if that held true

I'd say they do.

Undefeated Georgia Tech, from a BCS conference, having beaten Virginia Tech, Clemson, Miami, and georgie, would have to go to the MNC if nobody else were undefeated. In the past couple years, we’ve seen teams who were undefeated get denied from it, but it was in favor of undefeated teams with a better strength of schedule, or one-loss, more deserving strength of schedule teams.

Agree'd

But perception of fanbase travel might hold us back from a wildcard bid to a BCS game other than the Orange. Our fans also kinda did the bad thing in that they all showed up for in Tampa but when we won the game very few then went on to Miami. That makes the BCS pickers unhappy.

We would have beaten Clemson twice.

Once in regular season and once in ACCCG. And hopefully those would be the only losses for Clemson.

I Just don't know

I’m pretty stalwart in my belief that everything hates the ACC (including the ACC) and they would never ever ever let an ACC team in that wasn’t VT, FSU, or Miami.

heres a scenario

If both Clemson and Tech come into our homecoming undefeated still then we will probably have gameday at Tech because that should be not one but TWO top ten teams, sooooo ESPN gameday anybody. Then we have a night game too.

I'm pretty confident that we will end up getting game day for homecoming.

I’m terrified that there will be a poor turnout though. That would only decrease Tech’s national reputation.

Or even worse, the whole damn crowd would be wearing orange and purple.

This scares me as well

but I saw a picture on the redditz of last time they came out and it was a pretty pro-GT crowd so we should be alright.

I know this cliche is well worn, but...

I hope the guys who play are focused on Maryland. These games all have to be played and, hopefully, the team is not thinking about MNC games at this point. While Maryland and UVA may not have the juice to beat us, Miami certainly does. We, as fans, can trash talk and speculate all we want, but the team better stay focused. That’s how trips to NOLA happen.

Embry Peeples

He told the AJC yesterday that he’s growing out his beard this season and might only trim it “when we’re in the Orange Bowl so it’d look good on TV.”

It makes me nervous…

Does he want his own column on the Swagger meter? Dude Peeples shut up! Hopefully CPJ puts the Kaibosh on language like this…

I couldn't care less if we're playing, can we just go to NOLA??
