Ouch!
Good for him but ouch. Does anyone think I should not be saying ouch?

He may have been one of those
guys about which Coach Johnson was talking. If you recall, he said in his season ending remarks that some players were more interested in their NFL futures than they were in helping GT win games.

Who else could he have been talking about?
The only other real NFL prospects are Anthony Allen, Brad Jefferson, and Mario Butler. I can only remember Coach Johnson calling out the offensive line as playing poorly or undisciplined through the season. He always said the defense wasn’t good enough, but I don’t think he ever implied that their heads weren’t in the game.
Sounds like you are on to something
To be honest I missed that comment by coach Johnson. Now that you share it another piece of the puzzle falls into place as to the reason for this appalling year.

Read this for more information

The last bullet outlines what was said and how the reporter interprets those statements.
Thanks
I also note that Jerrard Tarrant has declared for the NFL. I thought he had a really down year this past season. Could it be he was also one of those who was more concerned about his NFL career than helping the team?
However, unless I am misreading the article (and I confess I skimmed fast) it was the author who said, “I wouldn’t be surprised if Coach Johnson said in effect, ’if you are more interested in your NFL future than in helping this team you need to find someplace else to play” or something to that effect. It was the author imagining what Coach Johnson might say; it was not an actual quote.

I see
It was Matt Winkeljohn who said it and not Coach Johnson directly. He did indicate that the players’ actions and words led him to that conclusion, so I have to think there’s some truth in it.
Good that that’s all cleared up. I’m an engineer, so I don’t do so good in reading comprehension.
Yes but what I admired about Tech as a kid
was that these were engineers who could read Shakespeare.

One more update on Claytor
In an interview he says he never thought about the NFL this past season. It wasn’t until after the bowl game that he started thinking about it and researching it.
