I never thought VT merited a ranking that high, and they showed it last night. They almost pulled it out thanks to Boise State mistakes, but once again Beamer’s game management and Foster’s end-game defensive play-calling lost it for them in a close one.

But to Boise’s credit, they looked sharp on the comeback possession. I still don’t think they could stand up to the best the big conferences have to offer.

Yep, Beamer was outcoached

for much of the game.
It scares me that Tech must face not one, but two, “wounded animals” that have a lot of weapons and now have a lot to prove.
Having UNC and VT both lose early is not a good scenario for those who must play them later.

Boise St looked good

Especially on defense. IIRC, the only other big opponent on their schedule is Oregon St and Utah, maybe Nevada as well. Oregon St should be an easy win for them. Utah might be the toughest of the three and I think their defense will negate Nevada’s offense. If they lose to any of those though, I doubt they make the big game. Right now they must go undefeated to make it into the championship game.

Also

VT wore black, in a big game, nationally televised. At what point will teams learn?
