LSU very, very, very lucky, daggumit.
I am trying really hard to let go of the UNC - LSU game. But it is nagging on me. Originally, when I decided to watch this game I was resigned to being philosophical about it. UNC was playing without 13 players including at least 5 of their best starters. They had no chance. Then as the game unfolded I realized how good they are, with or without their entire team. Now I can't clear my mind of four competing thoughts. In order these thoughts are:
1) If UNC ever plays with all of their players they will be as good as any team in the country.
2) Tech has to play these guys and now I am really worried.
3) LSU has to be one of the luckiest teams in t he country this week after UNC has several chances to win this one but threw it away.
4) Idiot pundits who didn't watch the game are going to see this game as further proof of SEC superiority.

The other possibility
is that LSU is just not very good. UNC has a strong front 7. LSU has one monster cornerback, speed, and a strong D line. Other than that, did you think either of these teams looked very good? They both looked sloppy and poorly-run to me.
It looked like a first game of the season for both teams
so sloppiness was just part of it. Other than that I was looking at individual athletes and what I saw were some good skill players on the part of LSU who looked even better because they got one on one match ups against second team players. As for UNC the preseason hype was that they were good but their quarterback was “iffy.” I think this game proves they have a strong quarterback. Had he had his two best running backs, his best receiver and a few other key players he could have been dominating. Add to this the “NFL” defensive players who had to sit this one out and I am looking at a UNC team that has scary talent. I was not a believer before this game but I have changed my mind.
As a Tech fan I am hoping that UNC becomes a mental basket case because of their off the field problems and they do not play up to their potential until after the Tech game.

Well
Along with all of the players that they may or may not have when we play, they will be without their DC as he just resigned.
"Everybody talks about SEC speed. The 27 fastest guys at the (NFL) combine, how many of them were from the SEC? Three. But if you say it enough, everybody will believe it."

"You could spend the next fifteen seconds of your life watching a man and a tiger scream together, or you could be an idiot."
Fact.
Yes
one more psychological blow for their team to get over but they still have an extra week to get ready.

The third possibility
is that LSU just REALLY did not have their heads in the game, and nearly paid the price for it. I truly believe that it was a failure for LSU because they didn’t win by 30 points, and almost as bad as it gets that UNC had two plays at the end of the game that could have won it. LSU is easily the better team IMHO, and them not being ready for that game almost allowed TJ Yates to kill them.
The good news is, though, that Tech now knows they can’t write that game off, and will be ready.
and you think UNC
had their heads in the game? I don’t see how they could have been anything less than a basket case given all that has happened to them. I still say the good news for Tech is that there may be more bad news for UNC before all of this plays out.

what really amazes me however
is that Heather Dinich says something like “UNC’s quarterback had a respectable game.” I don’t remember her exact words but anytime a quarterback gets 400 yards passing on your team you have been flat shredded. LSU’s secondary looked pretty weak.
