Preliminary BlogPoll Week 3: A-C-Catastrophe!
Winfield: Alabama and Ohio State move back up to #1 and #2 after taking care of business over pretty good teams at home while Boise sat at home and twiddled its thumbs and watched it's biggest win of the season crumble right before its eyes. Sorry Broncos, bad week for the ACC, bad week for you. I was almost a homer yesterday, leaving Georgia Tech in the Top 25 but it's not true. Kansas, who got beat by North Dakota State and who could only muster 3 points last week, beat the Jackets, so we're done. Virginia Tech, same thing. You got beat in your own stadium by James Madison. Seriously? Still hungover from the Boise game? In fact, all my ACC teams sit in positions 22-29. Oregon should probably be higher. What are your thoughts on the Ducks?
My middle teams, #'s 11-20 could probably all be pulled out of a hat at this point and re-shuffled and it would still be considered acceptable because it's still only been 2 weeks of football. Probably more logical order coming next week.

USCw a bit too high (really, you barely beat UVA?), USCe a bit too low. Actually, I’d scoot both Michigan and SoCar up about 4 or 5 spots.
You’d have Michigan up that near the top 10? I love Big Blue, but that defense is not… good. They’ll get to 5-0, but it’ll be an adventure from there.

This is like the ESPN of polls. Whatever happened this week is the most important, and whoever won is the best and whoever lost is the worst. I’ll quit paying attention to this thing now.
I think that's
the nature of early season polls. Teams fluctuate and fall because expectations are too high or too low for a lot of teams especially considering there are a lot of good teams out there and no great ones.

preseason polls are rough because no one really knows. come back around week 4

I was perusing the AP poll...
…and it made me think:
Wonder how long it’s been since the state of Georgia did not have a team ranked in the top 25. Anyone know?
Maker's Mark--nectar of the gods...
Let's start with the top 10
1. Alabama -Super Bowl champs until proven otherwise
2. Iowa -a stout team that is better than you think
3. Ohio State -were those flaws we saw in their play Saturday or is Miami really that good
4. Oklahoma -as bad as FSU is, Oklahoma may be that good
5. Oregon -hard to figure since Tennessee always seems to have trouble with PAC-10 teams
6. Boise St. -one first down conversion away from being the team that lost to the team that lost to James Madison
7. Texas -may be the sleeper team of the year
8. TCU -they still get no respect
9. Nebraska -Cornhusker tough again
10. South Carolina -sometimes coaching beats talent

USCe has some talent…
When Winfield and myself revise our polls, it’ll look better, I think. The composite poll always bring out funny results when one of us forgets a big team or overrates/underrates a certain team.

I need to watch some more Husker football
I’m struggling with where they even are right now
