Pac-10 Expansion Talk Links
If you are like me, someone who turned their computer off at 4:50PM because work was finished and I wanted to go to the High Museum in Atlanta to see the Allure of the Automobile, well then you probably also missed this whole excited talk about Pac-10 Expansion and how the conference has extended an invite to six Big 12 teams.

But don't worry, here are some links that can help you catch up quickly. The Pac-10 is supposedly ready to invite Texas, Texas A&M, Texas Tech, Oklahoma, Oklahoma State and Colorado.

Outlandish thought: what do you guys think about the ACC grabbing Kansas?
Top three basketball programs in one conference. It’s not that far away, compared to Boston and Miami. We could include their rival Mizzou, also, for another very good hoops program — plus they’re both AAU members and often ok at football.
Then either (A) pick up Rutgers and Syracuse in the near future, if we can preempt the Big Ten. That would be 4 new AAU schools, east coast and New England lockdown, and the best hoops conference by a light year. And four sometimes-decent football teams.
Or (B) fill out the map and go for, say, Louisville and West Virginia. This does not entice me as much, but it would compensate for the weird geography of adding two midwestern teams.
(Of course, this all falls apart if Kansas St has to come too. We don’t really want Kansas St.)
(The more I think about it, the less desperate I am to escape to the SEC or Big Ten. The ACC can work out for us.)

Then again, Louisville and WV would be better travel for everyone involved.
I don’t see many road fans making a Syracuse-Miami trip.
And by “east coast lockdown,” yes, I’m ignoring the shall we say contested area between Gainesville and Columbia.

travel is quickly becoming the least of everyone's concerns.
Forget fuel prices! But that would be interesting. If this ever happened, we could see the fingers of the ACC touch all time zones and geographical regions. The ACC: THE FIRST COUNTRYWIDE CONFERENCE!

Thank you Pac-10
I really think this is good for GT. If the Pac-10 gets Texas the SEC will either grab the 4-pack from the ACC (GT, Clemson, FSU, Miami) or the ACC will act first and grab up 4 from the Big East and the SEC will be left looking around. If Texas is taken then there’s no need to grab just 2 teams from the ACC to go along with Texas+1. Worst case I see is if we get stuck in an ACC that has been depleted of a combination of FSU/Clemson/Miami/VT and backfilled with scrubs from the Big East. Go Texas, go!

If the SEC does go after GT, Clemson, FSU and Miami do they really pick up untapped media markets? Or are they just adding 4 more mouths to feed? FSU/Miami maybe. But Miami for sure hasn’t quite turned out to what the ACC hoped it would be.

the move for Tech to SEC
would only benefit Georgie. It would put our hoops on par conference-wise (and recruiting-wise) and it would remove their only forced OOC game.
With no powers, comes no responsibility.
