Georgia Tech grabs National 8 Seed in Men's baseball tournament

Yesterday it was announced that Atlanta, GA would be a regional host. Today it was announced that Georgia Tech was tagged as the National 8 seed for the tournament. As long as Georgia Tech wins, they will have home field advantage through the 1st (Regional) and 2nd (Super Regional) rounds.

Coming to Atlanta is the regional #4 seed and local team, Mercer University. The Bears won the Atlantic Sun Conference tournament. Elon University is the #3 seed from the Southern Conference and then the Alabama Crimson Tide who played their way into the tournament through a successful SEC tourney run is the #2 seed.

The Atlanta Regional is paired up with the Auburn, AL regional. The Auburn Tigers are hosting a regional for the first time in quite some years (2005). Participants in Auburn are: #4 seed Jacksonville State, #3 Southern MIss, and #2 Clemson.

Did you know? The last time Georgia Tech went to the CWS was when they were a National #8 seed.

Ticket Information (from the Georgia Tech athletics page):

• Current Georgia Tech baseball season ticket holders will have the opportunity to purchase their same seats on Tuesday, June 1 (from 8:30am - 5:00pm).
• The ticket office will be closed on Monday in observance of Memorial Day and will re-open on Tuesday at 8:30am.
• Season ticket holders should purchase via the telephone at 404-894-5447 or 888-TECH-TIX; season ticket locations will not be available via the internet.
• Season ticket locations not purchased by 5:00pm on Tuesday will go on sale to the general public on Wednesday.
