FTRS Open Thread: What do our readers do?
Me? I'm a job seeker and college student (barely). I have less than 20 school days.
What about you? What do you do and what state are you in? I've met consultants, students, younger and older people who read FromTheRumbleSeat so let us know!

Mathematician
Getting out with PhD (math) in May. Then headed to London for two years as a post-doc. going to be interesting figuring out how to watch the Jackets from the UK.
Might have to check that out
Unfortunately, I have no family in ACC country to leave the darned thing with. I do have some friends who will be in Atlanta throughout the time I’m over there. Might have to see if I could leave one with them.

In Chicago. Got my CHBE degree, so naturally I am selling industrial power systems.
Web Guy
I’m a web developer at foxnews.com in New York. I’ve found a few other alumni to watch games with and an all-ACC bar, so next football season should be fun.
Dude I'm in NYC
Where is this all-ACC bar? The GT Alumni group meets up at F.A.T.S. near Penn Station, but an actuall ACC bar would be way better.
I’m a Database Engineer for a Financial Data Provider downtown. We’re always hiring, too, Winfield, if you want to be a programmer, that is (we have C# web development and SQL backend development). Or, if you don’t want to be a programmer and are good at photoshop you can be a software designer, which is a much less stressful job.
Also, everyone else here is under 30, and we all drink like sailors. Honestly, it’s the perfect post-college job.
I can’t completely vouch because I wasn’t here for last football season, but I’ve been told that a group of alumni meet at Brother Jimmy’s near Penn for football games. I was there a few weeks back and they had acc pennants hanging everywhere. I should’ve gone over there for some of the basketball tourney but never did. Does the alumni group do a lot of events? I’d love to meet more GT grads.

Actuary
GTwill,
I’m a junior studying actuarial sciences. I was wondering if there is any hints you could give me on exams/getting contacts.
I work in the Registrar’s office of a university in Virginia. Also a full-time seminary student, so yay for being busy!

If the Ramblin' Reck burns the nationwide average of 1.61 gallons/day, it produces 14 kg of CO2 equivalent per day. 14 kg/day is less greenhouse gas emissions than those produced by a single cow or horse. There is a proverbial herd of mascots in I-A football that are more polluting than the Ramblin' Reck...

Sell Drugs
Legally, but you don’t want to ever take this drug. Better career path is Pharmacy/Research/Management/New Technologies, especially in Bio Technology.

Student for a month
I am graduating this semester as well in civil and luckily I am getting a job offer next week from the company I co-oped with in Atlanta. Hope I can still attend all the football and basketball games next year as well except I will not be front row anymore which is sad.
Dropout
I made it 5 semesters at GT. I was a grocery store manager for 10 years, now I’m the system managers at Milliken. It’s a great gig.
GIS/Imagery PM
Decided to join the United States Marine Corps instead of enrolling @ GT, enlisted in the intelligence field and fell into the GIS industry in the Marines doing imagery and spatial data analysis. I currently live in Jacksonville, FL working for CSX (railroad). I help design and develop business models and applications in desktop, mobile, and web formats for our analysts, business partners, and customers. And a myriad of other things in the GIS (Geographic Information Sysytems) field.
I’ve always wanted to go back and get my degree from GT, but now that I am settled in my career and married with three kids, it’s probably not likely. I was born in Hapeville and grew up in Griffin and have always been a Yellow Jacket in mind and soul, so getting my degree from anywhere else just seems less than fulfilling.
If anyone is every down this way, shoot me an email!
