GT drops in rankings after UVA series loss
Throughout the baseball season I have been closely following the five major polls tracking GT's movement after each week of play. Without going back and checking, we haven't been outside the top ten once all year, which is awesome, but I picked up on something early on. No one is talking about Jackets. It doesn't seem to matter who we play or what the results are, we are either a footnote or not mentioned at all while other teams such as Texas or UVA get at least a few sentences minimum.
All of that is fine by me as I would much rather fly under the radar nationally for a while and hope that we get to burst a few bubbles i the end. But after this past weekend, I feel that maybe the non-existent exposure has cause us to be unfairly punished for losing two games to a very strong, previously number one ranked for multiple weeks UVA squad, at their place no less. Before the series GT was ranked 2nd, 3rd, 2nd, 2nd, and 4th*. After the series, we were dropped to 5th, 6th, 5th, 5th, and 7th*.
I know it doesn't seem like much, and maybe I'm being picky, but playing Virginia at their place this year is not going to be easy for any team and I can't say I agree with the drop. Thoughts?
*These are Rivals rankings, which have been low all year for some reason. I'm sorry, but Florida, Arkansas, and Texas have not played better competition than we have and the numbers against their competition do not compare to what our guys are putting up against our competition.

UVA had record crowds for our games
I agree with you. It’s tough for college baseballers to play on the road especially pitchers. We’ll be okay. Clemson is a huge series this weekend and of course Miami and VT loom in the distance. Just gotta keep on trucking. Everyone loses series. I think our offense will get it back in gear…

Agreed
I hope this didn’t come off as b#tching as I really was just noting the trend in the polls and their coverage, or lack of coverage, of our squad. It was just something interesting to me that I thought I would share.

I didn't think it was bitching
just a good observation that people are expecting us to flatten out after riding high. I think the team answered the call in Athens yesterday. I wouldn’t be surprised to see some fireworks this weekend.

Question
Does anyone know of a good DI Baseball stat site, maybe like Kenpom for basketball or CFBstats for football?

check out Beesball links
They have a list of ranks in the tool bar that include websites with RPI and such.

Cool, will do
I was hoping to find somebody who tracked the advanced stats such as ERA+, VORP, WS, etc. I mean, I could do it for our team, but I’m lazy and surely am not going to even attempt it for all 230 odd D1 schools.
I did look at the rankings on NCAA and noticed how we pretty much rock offensively. We are in the top 50 in just about every stat, mainly averaging around the low 30’s to high 20’s. Let’s just hope our pitching doesn’t blow up late in the season, because otherwise, our hitting should be able to carry us deep into the postseason.
