State Open Thread!!@!@!@ We're in the semis!

Do it Tech! Take State to the woodshed! UNC was bad. Maryland's front court was overmatched. NC State is bad as well. Let's teach the Packers a thing or two about how hoops are played in the A'.

Let's summon the powers of Roger Kaiser. Kaiser led Tech to its first ever NCAA appearance in 1960.

Livin' on the Edge or,

Livin’ on a Prayer?

I’d like to see us stop the “push the ball up, one pass (maybe), hoist one up from 17, clank the rim and miss the rebound”. We become a speed bump for the other team’s offense.

Work it to the bigs, draw the fouls, play a relaxed pace and wear them down.

What about Hewitt to St. Johns? NYC connections?

St. Johns looks like Seth Greenberg...

to me.

I spun around... and there I was, face-to-face with a six-year old kid. Well, I just threw my guns down and walked away. Little bastard shot me in the ass.

Deck McGuire pitched a helluva game yesterday

first complete game for Tech in 3 seasons..

duke beats miami

Wolfpack licks prolapse. Let’s go Jackets, whoop nc state so we can exact revenge on dook.

uh oh

One of the two things we can’t handle. Full court trap press.
Hope we don’t have to inbound anything.

As I wrote yesterday,

do they bother with inbound pass plays? Do they ever practice it? I’ve never seen a Tech team so bad at getting the ball in to someone.

Gminski's got us pegged

Great one half, bizzare the next.

Can’t fight back from the quicksand.

INDIFFERENT PLAY.

oh no

Inbound for the game

I'm still not happy

Better to win than to lose, for sure, but I’m relieved, not happy.

Like I've said all along

Hewitt is a good coach; Tech just has a young team that sometimes makes mistakes. I hope these guys stay in school and build on this talent.

ain't dreamin'

just a fair weather fan. And sometimes I have to remember what Bobby Ross said when he left the Jackets. He said he got tired of the fact that no matter how well he coached it was still up to a bunch of kids whether or not he had a job at the end of the day.

No he is not

He is an excellent recruiter, but we seriously lack fundamentals.

First 3 game winning streak since ksu, winston salem, and charlotte!

I knew we had it in us, just didnt know if we would be able to channel it. Hopefully we can save some of this for the big dance, though, because 9 in a row may be a stretch

by csulima on Mar 13, 2010 7:43 PM EST reply actions

How do we channel the Dook win

And not that foul plagued 1st half in the loss. Bet they’ll run full court pressure and traps.

by DressHerInWhiteAndGold on Mar 13, 2010 8:22 PM EST via mobile reply actions

We Channel

Rich Yunkus for inside scoring and Yvon Joseph (the only player I ever saw intimidate Patrick Ewing and get him into foul trouble) for inside muscle. As you can see I think Tech’s chances rest with the inside game.

by Atlanta's original team on Mar 13, 2010 9:16 PM EST reply actions

That game killed me

They got Ewing on the bench with four at the start of the second half but just couldn’t get the balls to drop.

Price in particular when cold, and this a game after he couldn’t miss against Illinois. I don’t blame the players for the ball not going in the hole; it was just one of those things.

The only consolation is that we would have lost to Villanova in the championship game, anyway, since they shot over 80% from the floor.

We need

to be the ones applying pressure. That was the key to the Duke win. We might have them on depth at every position on the floor and pressuring them (read keep the ball away from cryer) keeps them from getting into their offensive sets. I like our chances today if we can keep getting the ball to Favors and Gani.

Side note…after a season of criticizing our lack of half-court offense, I’m really liking the 4-high double ball screen look of the last few games. Have our big guys set a screen and then crash to the blocks is a nice change

Are you a LION or a GAZELLE?

With Apologies To Randy Edsall, The Big East Remains Mostly Harmless

FILE -- This is an Oct. 18, 2008 file photo showing Connecticut corner back Jasper Howard (6) trying to get the crowd into the game during the fourth quarter of an NCAA college football game against Rutgers, in Piscataway, N.J.
