To you critics: when athletes say some of the things you say, then you condemn them as quitters. Are you quitting?
Their effort and level of commitment should never be questioned....
We realize we still have work to do but no one should ever question the effort, intelligence, or dedication of our program...
Our team deserves to be treated truthfully. This young basketball team is on the verge of earning an NCAA berth.

I knew this would be posted...
@BirdGT, what do you think of Hewitt’s tweets?
Anyone know why he started this campaign the last few days? I haven’t seen anymore criticism than usually. Just like the Duke road loss, I don’t see anyone changing their tune because we lost a tough road game.
I agree the team’s effort and commitment should not be questioned. They are clearly playing hard. I just don’t know who Hewitt thinks are raising these concerns, but then I don’t read the message boards.
The criticism is of him. When he says, “We realize we still have work to do but no one should ever question the effort, intelligence, or dedication of our program.” Is he talking about himself?
I think he's finally starting to feel pressure from the fans
I think last year really wore down on CPH. The team was Lewis Clinch and Gani sometimes. If Lewis didn’t score 30 points, we got blown out. I think he is kinda realizing that the Final Four is old news and that Tech fans want him to do something now.
I think it’s a combination of biding his time by finally speaking out and also an attempt at “I told you so” if his teams win. He can say, “Hey look, I said we’d do well in the postseason.” I just think the fan base was really worn down by the lack of success since basically March 2005. 5 years without an NCAA tourney win is a long time for a coach at one of the top programs in the country.
This squad is good and I think we’ll make some noise come tournament time (if the Selection gods smile on us). What I like about Hewitt’s teams is that they are good tournament teams. They’re ferocious on defense and usually implement a lot of bench play. If we get to game round 2 or 3, we’ll most likely be the deeper more talented team. Coaching is almost irrelevant at that point.
I spun around... and there I was, face-to-face with a six-year old kid. Well, I just threw my guns down and walked away. Little bastard shot me in the ass.
I would also like to reiterate
that I think this team will be really good next year. Half the battle is recruiting and we’ve finally got a really good offensive unit that can compliment Hewitt’s defense.

These tweets are bad but the interview I posted above is worse
All this pick a side talk, suggest that he is really feeling the heat. Jeff Schultz was making fun of him a month back for lecturing the media and that is what this interview is. To say you don’t read the media, then repeat what people have told you the media says, than complain about it? He wants people to report the facts, but doesn’t want to read the reports himself? How does he know what the media is writing? He used to be great with the media, but maybe that is easier when you are winning.
This is an embarrassing interview in my opinion. I know I have been critical of Hewitt, but I still hope he will surprise me and succeed. I cringed throughout reading this.
