Don't Know Much About The 1990 Championship Team? Watch These Videos
This Saturday, Georgia Tech will honor and remember the 1990 National Championship team during halftime against the Miami Hurricanes. The 1990 National Championship Team is an interesting group to note. For some reason I get the feeling that we forget about 1990 and always seem to focus on the championships from our "Golden Age" of Heisman, Dodd, and Alexander. Today, I want us all to start learning more about the 1990 squad and I found some highlights of that season that should give us a good overview of what happened during that special season.

Good stuff
The importance of that UVA game, IMO, cannot be overstated. I was a senior in high school that season and it seemed like we were just kind of chugging along with the season until this game. People really started to sit up and pay attention after beating the #1 ranked team at home.
Couple of things that really stood out to me that year: The leadership of Shawn Jones when the chips were down and the amazing defense we fielded (192 total points scored against for entire season).
Thanks for posting, WF.

Agreed
and agreed. Although, my personal favorite are the old uni’s. White helmets with a gold GT logo, etc.

Fact.
My favorite season of all time
Tech was consistently taken lightly that season because if was an ACC team, even in the final National Champion voting when they had to split the championship with a team that they would have beaten by 3 touchdowns (witness the Nebraska game). I also remember that Virginia was powerhouse that year with Tikki Barber running the ball. Unfortunately UVA did not have him for their bowl game but he went on to be a star in the NFL.
I have never seen a better college quarterback that Shawn Jones. He was a flawless passer and could not be contained once he scrambled out of the pocket.

Memory is a terrible thing sometimes. Then who was the great running back Virginia had (besides their good quarterback) who missed playing in the bowl game that year against Tennessee?
