thank goodness this is Wake

otherwise, we’d be losing 14-3

Scrap the rest of the season…start planning for Georgie!

Ok so...

we looked absolutely awful. But as CPJ has said… an ugly win beats a pretty loss any day.

Is it just me or did our passing game look better than our running game – aside from the fact we have no one that could really catch anything…

Oh well, we won and Georgie lost. All is right with the world!

Wake was playing to stop the run

They were daring us to pass. I’m just glad the receivers started catching the ball. Joshua was throwing well all day.

Wow - glad I didn't watch this game

I would’ve been really frustrated. Did anyone see the spanking Baylor put on Kansas? I think we’re in for a long rest of the season.

And really...

we’re lucky that we were in position to even tie, and then take a lead – looking at the box score and reading ajc / espn, we had to convert @ least one clutch 4th down…unbelievable. Our O-Line really needs some work if we’re going to continue to be effective at running the ball.

For sure the O-Line has been disappointing

And maybe it has something to do with Anthony Allen at B-Back – but I am a little surprised he hasn’t broken off more big runs and hasn’t found the end zone yet. I don’t think its a coincidence his big run led to our only TD. It seems like opposing defenses can stop him without taking focus away from the pitch or Joshua running it. The offense looks pretty dreadful right now honestly.

- I think the D has put together some very respectable quarters since the Kansas games (and yes some very bad ones). Hopefully, they can build some momentum from playing Wake Forest’s 4th string offense and put together 60 minutes of good defense by the end of the year. Although it drives me crazy we gave them a 100 yard rusher.

- Lastly, not to be too negative, but sometimes I wonder why we even bother having receivers come on the field. Nesbitt is getting laughed at uncontrollably for his passing efficiency, but the drops have gotten past the point of frustrating and are just about comical by now. Our percentage of passing attempts dropped has to be astronomical by this point. I’d say don’t chuck it down the field every time we drop back but they couldn’t even catch the intermediate passes last night. That said, IF we can get that fixed or improved (and honestly I don’t know how it can get much worse), I think it will go a LONG way keeping the defenses somewhat honest.

Excellent Points

We have seen the difference in the offense with Allen replacing Dwyer and no one replacing Thomas. Allen is much better in space than he is in traffic, and it’s causing our drives to stall (creating 3rd and 4 consistently isn’t the formula to keep drives going).

The defense shows some promise, and then they’ll give up a huge 3rd and long. What this defense really needs is talent. Hopefully, they can at least be respectable by season’s end.

Finally, I totally agree that this offense needs an efficient passing game. Just recalling last night, there were a couple instances where passes were just off the mark, dropped, or not protected. That incomplete pass to Cone on the first drive really killed the offense. Hill dropped a couple, and Melton had that big play at the end of the game that he just straight dropped, too. Get that shored up, then defenses won’t know who to defend us, and this team has the ability to be just as good as last year on offense.

Sorry, last post=Crackberry-itis

I don’t even play a CFB coach on TV, but would it make sense to move Predator to A Back and let Cox or Lyons bust at B back. AE looked SO much better last year, and I must admit I cannot calculate the difference it would make without Diesel Dwyer at B Back for this to work.

I really miss the Downhill Rumble/Ramble that we saw last year from every corner of the Option.

Are D Coordinators respecting Predator so much that they look to shut him down on every game/every play??
