INFO?

I have been searching on line without success to find any news of Paul Johnson’s press conference after the Orange Bowl. Where can I find this?
Also, where can I find news about Wommack’s firing or about a possible hiring of Al Groh?
Thanks.

Al Groh is being considered

Norm Parker!

Just kidding, but I was certainly impressed.

Not sure who we will go after. Hard for me to believe Groh would be interested.

I hear Willie Martinez is available...

Just kidding guys. I wonder how this is going to impact the UGA and UF searches for a DC as there are now three major schools in the region looking for a new DC.

Not sure

But all my Gator co-workers here in Jacksonville said Martinez was hired on at UF as the DB’s coach. Regardless of who it ends up being, a change is needed. A little more talent on the line couldn’t hurt either though.

draft declarations

I doubt this change of order will change D. Morgan’s mind to go pro (at least I assume) but is there any chance this will change Morgan B.’s opinion? Thoughts?

I don't think so...

I think a new DC, especially a good DB’s coach would really help his stock next year. If he leaves or listens to anyone telling him to leave…God help us/him.

This is awesome! I know they were friends and all…but it’s a business decision. Our D def. needs some help—a former NFL D coordinator would do wonders. Groh’s got my seal of approval. Who else is out there? Anyone think Tenuta might come back? We always ranked top 25 in the country in defense didn’t we when he was at the helm?

With Tenuta

I think we’d run into a lot of the same problems as before. Typically teams with big, athletic OL were able to pick up his blitzes and then we were sunk. Definitely feast or famine. I don’t think CPJ would have much patience with that.

HOWEVER, when CPJ first got hired and said that he wanted to talk to Tenuta about the position and was turned down, I think it’s because he was unwilling to completely give him free reign as it appears he would now. I would love to get Groh because I think we’d be better off in a 3-4 with TJ Barnes in the middle and our other “DTs” (read 260 lbs) could definitely be better DEs. We could then go after a lot of hybrid type players that other schools might pass on (undersized DE that could be an outside LB in a 3-4).

Just my thoughts.

Switching to a 3-4 would be tough

What other schools run a 3-4? I’m having trouble thinking of any.

Didn't UVA run a 4-3 under Groh?

UVA ran a 3-4 'cause Groh was a Parcells guy

WVU runs a 3-3-5 stack like Air Force. Utah and Nevada run a 3-4. New ND DC, Corwin Brown, will be installing a 3-4. Not many big schools using the 3-4 outside of UVA.

The defense was certainly the weak link in this years team

FSU, Miami and Clemson all ripped our defense. Thankfully the offense bailed them out. I feel fortunate to get a coach as experienced at Groh.
