The field was too hard...
What a joke. Good things your guys don’t play up north when the ground freezes. Another reason why bowl games are unfair. I would love to see SEC/PAC 10/ACC fans have to go play a bowl game in Chicago and see how they handle it.
No one wants to play up North
Hence, the good recruits go South. If the BCS was replaced with a playoff, the Northern teams would have a huge advantage. Look at the NFL, Tampa is the only warm weather team to win the Super Bowl in the past ten years. Slowhio State is the only cold weather team to win the BCS and that’s just ’cause they kept getting shots at it. They were bound to win one and not get blown out.
A playoff would be huge for the Big 10 but that never seems to get brought up in the BCS change talks. I know it was instrumental in pushing the college baseball season forward so Big 10 teams could play more home games.
You are a sad, strange little man, and you have my pity.
Thats why no NFL players are from the Big Ten...
Really, no one wants to play up North? We have some good recruiting classes up there, too (not iowa, we build our program with “average” classes).
It does seem to show that North players are tougher then. So yeah, we are tougher. And you will be surprised by our defensive speed. Everyone has been so far this year.
I think it's a wash as far as NFL draft picks
from the ACC vs. the Big 10. I pulled up defensive players taken since ’05 a few days ago and I looked at offensive, too. Talent-wise the Big 10 and ACC have been on par lately, which is below that of the Big 12 and SEC.
I just think weather has become a huge recruiting advantage lately for Southern teams. If the postseason were played outdoors in the North and Midwest, however, I think you’d see the Northern teams take the front seat back from the SEC or Big 12 in recruiting. Like think about this stat. Clemson has never played a game in subfreezing weather EVER. GT has played a few in outdoor Peach Bowls and the Humanitarian Bowl. Our teams wouldn’t stand a chance in Wisconsin in December.

I hope GT fans watched the Miami/Wisconsin game the other night.
Sure…you can’t compare this team beat that team and blah blah blah….
But did you watch the Wisconsin defense? Looked pretty fast, huh?
Iowa’s defense is faster and quicker than that.

This should cause some apprehension
“As Georgia Tech coaches have said at other points this season, the Yellow Jackets were completely "out-physicaled" by the Hurricanes on both sides of the ball.”
Observations: Wisconsin dominated the line of scrimmage on both sides of the ball against a team that is more physical than Georgia Tech
Iowa spent three quarters pushing Wisconsin around.
Like MissouriHawk and everyone else has stated one cannot predict outcomes from previous performances but viewing this as an indication of the physical nature of play in both conferences Iowa will most likely be the most “physical” team GT has faced this year. That being said… sometimes the more physical team wins.
