Paul Johnson: The Triple Option Patriarch

Whenever he gets the chance, Army Coach Rich Ellerson watches the football teams from Navy and Georgia Tech on television. He does so partly because of his long-standing friendships with those teams' coaches, Ken Niumatalolo and Paul Johnson. But Ellerson is also curious: His team, like Niumatalolo's and Johnson's, employs the triple-option offense....

There is no doubt that if this is a family tree, the patriarch is Paul Johnson.

Who will be watching ARMY/NAVY?

Obviously 2 teams of heros with a lot of tradition and two good to VERY GOOD Option O’s.

These guys never give up, and a Navy Grad told me that the Seniors in this game go Balls to the Walls since most won’t make a Bowl (Army if they lose), and their next game is in the dust in the Middle East or on the deck of a Helicopter landing ship.

Besides great Tradition and the Option, this is a great game because these guys laugh at us at home complaining about the economy, the neighbors, our boss, whether the Defense will get it done in Miami, the take out restaurant got our order wrong, our 401 K dropping, etc.

I haven’t got the guts to pick up an AR 15 and stand to post, so if it helps America’s best to have eyeballs on this game-I’m in 100%.
