PETA asks for UGA to use robot mascot

Here's the link from the AJC. Here's the message sent to UGA athletic director:
In the wake of the untimely death of the University of Georgia’s (UGA) bulldog mascot, Uga VII, PETA has asked the school’s athletic director, Damon M. Evans, to replace the mascot with an animatronic dog–or to rely solely on a costumed mascot–instead of using another real bulldog. Bulldogs are prone to breathing difficulties, hip dysplasia, heart disorders, and other congenital ailments, and acquiring a dog from a breeder perpetuates the animal overpopulation crisis while causing another dog waiting in an animal shelter to be condemned to death.

I know PETA is insane 90% of the time but I do think it's time the Bulldogs retire their mascot tradition. I've said this a few times but I think it's a little circus-like to parade live animals in front of 90,000 screaming fans. 4 Year lifespan for a dog. That's inhumane. Do something else. Stick with Hairy Dog.

Press release from FORD MOTOR COMPANY

Ford Motor Company said today that there are no restrictions on the use of classic 1930 Model A Sports Coupes during public events.

“The Ford A Model will not expire on the driver, slobber on the driver, bite the driver (or Auburn receivers), or lick its private parts in public.”

“Although 80 years old, this fine mascot does not need to be kept on a leash, provided with a bag of ice during the game or pooper scooped. Additionally, it will not scoot its rear end across your carpet during a dinner party.”
