My apologies for yesterday's SNAFU. My F*** Min' ain't rihhht! Dane filled out his ballot which changed the ballot quite a bit. So here's our legitimate rough draft blogpoll.

Last week's ballot

Dropped Out: Arizona (#20), Auburn (#23), Tennessee (#24), Brigham Young (#25).

  • No change in the Top 9 overall but some teams are losing their grasp.
  • Clemson gets props because they can arguably be one of the hottest teams in the country. So far, no Bowden-esque meltdown. That close loss to TCU doesn't look too bad anymore.
  • Southern Cal plummets because they have lost 3 games horribly. Two blowouts and a loss to a bad Washington team. Shudder. What has happened to that team?
  • Miami lost the "SWAGGA" or the care to play for the ACC CG when it's already locked up. OH SNAP BURN MIAMAH HURRICANES. POW!
  • I struggle with putting Penn State over Iowa, I think a lot of us suffer from the name and perception of "Penn State Football". Dr. Saturday has a good article on this problem.
  • Cincinnati is losing its lead against the Jackets. While they may be able to score points against Georgia Tech, they give up a freaking crap ton which would mean we will outscore them.
  • Why, hello there Stanford!

I would struggle with Wisconsin over Iowa just as much, especially since both games were on the road, and both games were won by Iowa by 10+. It’s understandable to doubt Iowa since they haven’t won a game since Stanzi was hurt, but if they beat Minnesota, I would expect them to be the second highest ranked Big 11 team in the next poll.

I wish that there were some team out there that could keep LSU out of the top 10 due to playing Louisiana Tech down to the wire at home, but there isn’t.

I know that USC has looked absolutely crap over the past two weeks, but I couldn’t rank them behind Cal. If both of them are ranked, then USC should be ranked ahead due to the head to head.

I think

we should still drop Utah more…

This new learning amazes me, Sir Bedevere. Explain again how sheep's bladders may be employed to prevent earthquakes.

Stanford

Again, I still believe that Stanford could easily beat (and in one case already has in Oregon) some of the teams ahead of them. They are putting up a significant amount of points on typically very good teams. I really would like to see them higher, but the losses are holding them back. I’m not sure that I could point to three or four games and justify it.

On that note, I could say some of the same things about Clemson. While the wins have been nice and they are putting up a number of points, look at who they have played. Moving them up ten spots because of a win over NC St (4-6, 1-5 ACC) seems like a mighty big leap. The real difference though is in the losses. While Maryland looks really bad, GT and TCU aren’t horrible losses, but three losses is still three losses. As you can probably tell, I’m going back and forth on where I see this team and where they should be placed. I guess what I’m trying to get at is if the collective thought was that they were the 21st best team in the country last week, exactly what from that NC St win makes them jump to being the 11th best? And is it enough to overcome the Maryland loss and jump the other 2 loss teams?

Then again, outside of the top ten things get dicey quick, so flip a coin and you’d probably have a quicker and simpler solution than trying to objectively justify every teams wins and losses.

Corey Zickefoose: I think they should still be able to play football, regardless. Tennessee is my place. You know, it's my football team.

Reporter: Even after they put a gun in your face, you say let them play football?

Corey Zickefoose: Yeah. It's Tennessee. That's the way it is sometimes.

Welcome to the SEC!
