PeeWee Recaps Games 3 and 4, win 30-14 and loss 30-8

I missed the last recap because I got caught up and forgot to post it. We destroyed our second opponent during our three game home stand. A small team from Mount Pleasant, SC came rolling into town. They didn't really stand a chance. The first play from scrimmage was the following sequence:

1) QB calls a play in the huddle and the offense lines up
2) QB calls hut and the ball is snapped
3) Our nose guard blows up the center, tackles the quarterback and running back simultaneously as the ball enters the quarterback's hands.
4) The ball is fumbled and our defensive end falls on it.

Needless to say, the team from Mount Pleasant was horribly over-matched. Horribly. We ran the sweep and halfback iso for the rest of the game. We didn't attempt a pass. The 6th graders got plenty of playing time, finally.

Game 4 was a struggle. We played these guys in the first game of the season at their house. Apparently, they had used a non-regulation ball in the first game. JV is supposed to use a Varsity ball. So first game they were hucking the ball up and down the field with Manning-tight spirals. We practiced all week to defend the pass. Then, they show up and all of their balls are ILLEGAL. Damnit.

So, they used our footballs. First and only pass they attempted was a duck that floated neatly into our cornerback's arms. We returned the ball to the 50 but our offense couldn't muster much against this team much like the first meeting.

We moved the ball into the red zone twice but failed to convert fourth downs twice. We ran a sweep on 4th and inches (TERRIBLE CALL BY OUR OC) and got stuffed. And we got sacked for a loss on our other 4th down red zone attempt.

Our lone touchdown came on defense. Their QB was in the shot gun with 4 wide and a tight end. They snapped the ball clear over his head and our nose guard scooped it up and ran it back. We scored on a two point attempt and that was the closest we'd be for the rest of the game at 16-8. They scored 14 unanswered points in the fourth quarter when their depth finally wore us down.

Our last two games are against the team we creamed and another team that is fairly evenly matched with us. The goal is to win 'em both and end on a .500 record. We'll see. Offense needs a lot of work.

Who runs a sweep on 4th and inches?

not I

Our sweep was getting killed all night too ’cause we had no downfield blocking. The kids run block and pass block the exact same every play by standing straight up from a 3-point stance.

I'm about to write you a reality check. Or would you prefer the cold, hard cash of truth?

Mt. Pleasant? That's about 30 minutes from me, other side of Charleston

You need to play some teams from my side of town! James Island Woot Woot! Where Roddy White is from!

Is the NG a player? You scouting him for Tech?
