- Bama: I like it. They’ve done more than the Gators, although UF is def deserving of the 2 spot.
- USC: I feel like the loss to U-Dub should keep them lower than they’ve been in the polls, but with so many top teams losing, #7 may be about right.
- LSU: Thanks for keeping them out of the top five (for now). They’ve been beating teams close—it’s the Les Miles way—but until they beat someone by a wide margin they belong around here… Florida this weekend will show everyone who the Tigers really are.
- KU: Fr srs? Wait until they at least beat a Big XII team to give them top-ten credit. You guys could flip Iowa’s and KU’s positions and be in a more realistic position.
- Auburn: I’d have Auburn a bit higher, closer to fifteen. They haven’t beaten the best teams, but I’ve just been impressed by this squad.
Overall a pretty good ballot.
After the top 3, everything is a mess. LSU is not as good as people think they are but it’s hard to drop them when they do win.

I want
a Big 12 North team to win the Big 12. That’s why I have Kansas/Mizzou so high. I think it’ll give them the extra confidence to finally beat Texas/OU in Dr. Pepper Title Game.
I'm about to write you a reality check. Or would you prefer the cold, hard cash of truth?
and
USF is too high
Kansas is too high
Oregon is too low
and UGA, wherever they are, is still to high

we are too high, but look
at everyone else below us. We should be able to handle everyone below us.

Dude Chris,
I think you are being a little too skeptical. I think anywhere from 13-17 is perfectly fine because we have shown that with enough rest, our offense can function back up to normal standards.

I might be the typical Jacket fan
and be too skeptical, but until our offense can be more consistent, I’d have us around 18th.
Although…the last two weeks, it has been. This week will tell a lot about our consistency, IMO.
Then I get pissed at myself for being so skeptical. I was listening to the CPJ show last week and he was talking about how much better the offense was at Navy in year 4, and I remember that we’re just in year 2. Then I feel bad for having these lofty pre-season hopes.
I think we all (ok, well I) forgot that it’s only the second year here. Yes, we had great success in the first year, but I think I expected us to be THAT much better this year with the offense.
Then I feel like a douchebag.

Oh trust me
I know the feeling. Jacket fans are bred to expect to have their heart broken. Pessimism is sometimes better for the GT fan’s soul as bad as that sounds

True
I know this is late, but if I had typed this during the correct timeframe, I would have said I was more worried about our defense after the Miss St game. They had no business putting that many points on us.

Kansas at #10?
I could really care less.
But anyone got a pic of that girl who started the fball/bball brawl? Hope she was worth it!
I agree with Chris
Ok so maybe our offense can perform up to some reasonable standard, but our defense can’t stop anyone with a pulse (no, UNC doesn’t have a pulse). I think you guys have us way too high. Put us 18-20, and I’ve got no beef, but we haven’t proven that we can be nationally competitive to the point that we deserve a top 15 spot. Remember, the only legit team we’ve faced this year absolutely dominated us. I still believe we have potential to be a great team, and we can win every game left on the schedule, but we have to be ranked based on our resume to this point, which is still a little shaky.
Son of a bitch
Something screws up when the spreadsheet gets copied. We ranked Tech 18th, 18th and 17th.
spreadsheet is right
We just have varying views on a lot of teams and GT sneaks up because the average is good

Equal opportunity skeptics
I agree that GT has room for improvement particularly with regards to defense and consistency, but don’t be afraid to rank us in the top 15. You may get nervous when you hear that low teens ranking (especially since in the last few years it has typically proceeded an immediate loss), but If you turn that skeptical eye on the teams in our vicinity it doesn’t seem far off. I like how we stack up against teams like USF, Ohio St., and Nebraska in terms of both resume and “if they went head-to-head” analyses.
I also like to look at it by thinking about where we belong in two weeks depending on the outcome of our games.
-If we win both I think we deserve to be a top 10 team
-If we split them I think we should be ranked right around 20th
-The third scenario shall remain unspoken
A current ranking of 13-15 seems like the right jumping-off point to get us to those places.
